Honestly guys. This line was one of the most insightful things he's ever said. What's difficult is that why should we trust a counselor that is going to tell us whatever the fuck? Clearly he's been doing not so great. But the point is that THAT'S OKAY. He's doing REALLY SHITTY. But he's literally seeing a counselor. And that's FANTASTIC! Why do we let people bullshit us? As human beings we are built for CONNECTION, we NEED to be able to invest in others and be able to trust. When a close, paid professional just straight lies to our faces it's actually a big set back. Tell me what you think about this, please.

@@nobodynowhere21 But who said the counselor actually was lying? He may have genuinely thought Drew had been working out. If I didn't know Drew really well and seen him after so long I may have assumed he had been working out to bulk up a bit. I mean in my opinion Drew looks in good psychical shape currently (I mean, I can see he's not in the best of place emotionally) but paying someone a compliment shouldn't be taken as lying simply because the assumption that he was working out was wrong. Best 3 words a counselor ever said to me was literally " GET OVER YOURSELF".. As soon as I stopped doing my own head in, believing everything my head told me was the gospel truth and learned to rationalize, things improved for me rapidly. No more believing I was this disgusting ugly blob my head made me out to be. lol

It’s a weird thing because there’s people like me who would genuinely be excited to meet you in person, who’s followed for years and felt like I actually connect to you as a person but you can’t see that because if I’m not commenting and making myself known on all your platforms in a way that makes me stand out, I’m just a number. And social media has us so focused on numbers that I imagine it’s very easy to feel the way you do when things change a bit. You’re not failing. Life is fucking hard and if you were uploading consistently and posting all the time at the expense of your mental health, it wouldn’t be worth it and you still might not be feeling much differently than you do now, even with more attention throughout the day. Your feelings are totally valid!

I recognise myself in a lot of the things he speak of, and I always feel so seen whenever I watch his videos - and they also make me laugh a lot of the time. It may not mean much, as this is only a comment on a video - but if you by chance read this Drew I hope you realise how loved you are by so many of us. I hate people when they always say that "You look fine to me." or "There are other people that have worst condition than yours." Do we have to do something unimaginable or kills someone just to get the attention, help, and love needed? Most of time our condition cannot be judge easily just the way we look physically only.. The hardest thing to cure is the one that is not physically present but mentally unstable... Yourself is your worst enemy, most of the people don't realize that or maybe they do but they are more focus on money and fame...

looking back now, shane was never funny. his skits sure weren't (&that was the point of them). than later in his YT "career" all his jokes are: 1. "I'm trash!" (how does that make sense or is even a joke?) 2. "I'm poor!" (he's a multimillionaire, with a million-dollar house and a pool). 3. "I'm fat" (what do people fatter than him think when you say that?) 4. "I hate myself" (okay) that was it. I can't think of any other jokes from his videos and they even just went more downhill when ryland got on them because he's so ungenuine&just a straight up liar as we've seen by this weekend) and BORING. watching him on blogs is like pulling teeth. drew has always been 150 x funnier.

"when you put all of your insecurity into something that isn't going to last forever, eventually you crash." You hit the nail on the head Drew. Many of us, whether we realize it or not, put our sense of value and worth into things that won't last or depend on others. The quest in life is finding those eternal things inside ourselves that can't be shaken by the opinions of the masses or those who hurt us.

Melanizing well said. Now, to actually implement it in my life lol

Vika Yeah realizing it is one thing, and that can be hard enough. Some wise folks figure it out, but I think most of us struggle for the rest of our lives trying to get as close to it as we can muster.

People that tell you “you just gotta get over it” when it comes to depression, never experienced real depression. There’s a huge difference between being depressed and just being sad. Don’t bother with those people, trust me, been there, tried that, nothing good comes from it.
@mina0rahman5 жыл бұрын
And people that try to convince you that you "choose" to be "sad". What.
@No-ps2zf5 жыл бұрын
Everybody experience depression and mental illness differently, don't just brush off on these kinds of advice. My depression got extremely better when I started being less protective of myself, as Drew said at the beginning of the video. A sort of "fake it 'till you make it" mechanism that allowed me to at least enjoy a little more of my day to day life, without being constantly overwhelmed by anxiety and hopelessness. It's true that being "sad" is not a choice, but you are not helpless in regards to depression. It is difficult and it will always be a struggle, but you can absolutely do something about it by "getting over it" (which, yes, it's a simplistic way of putting it into words, but I think we all get what they want to say). Thinking about my mental struggles as illnesses has kept me their prisoner for the longest time, that's why I don't fully agree to compare them to physical illnesses: the patient deserves the same dignity, but his power over them isn't really comparable. Not to say I don't agree with you in the slightest, I just wanted to share my experience to say that everyone is different and there is no standard solution to this kind of problems.
@esthercotter5 жыл бұрын
@@No-ps2zf yes there are types of therapy that revolve around changing thought patterns with positivity. Though the way people who have never had depression often say stuff like that person Drew talked too and that isn't helpful.
@No-ps2zf5 жыл бұрын
@@esthercotter Yeah, I agree, people enjoy a little too much sharing their unsolicited advice. I don't think it comes from a malicious place, though. Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me that much.

Also, you’ve confided in us before that you don’t always feel up to posting regularly. I’m not going to be one of those annoying people who begs for you to post more, because from one artist to another I completely understand how content/music/art is an extension of who you are, and how could you possibly create something when you don’t have a clue right now.
