My grandfather and uncle had large cattle ranches, and my grandparents had 18 horses on theirs. I spent all my summers and holidays with them. My favorite was a white Arabian Bapop received in a trade. I would have never treated him like this trainer in the video. He was my favorite. Bapop said he was too fancy for a ranch horse, but let me keep him and he was a good cattle horse. His high spirit could be challenging if something startled him, but there was mutual respect. I never whipped or spurred him. (abusive devices). After gaining his trust he would always respond without a halter. I could call him from the pasture and he would run to me and rear up and follow me to the barn. I loved his spirit! I was gentle, patient, and won his mind first and we bonded. It was like we read each other's minds. Special beautiful animals! He passed many years ago, but I was so honored to have him in my life. Fortunate to have a grandfather who retired his horses to large pastures to live out their days. 🐎😍

Do they always have to rip on their faces 🤦🏻♀️ and I may be no expert, but she did not show him very well.

Heythere Sarah no. i own an arabian and the worst thing you can do is yank on their faces repeatedly. arabians are very delicate and take special handling, the require soft and gentle hands

@@jaylanekennedy6773 ummmm yeah. AnY horse should be handled with 'gentle hands' .. not just arabians genius
@heathergallagher53404 жыл бұрын
For a person that has Arabians, let me tell you. . . This is not how we should be showing our horses. The striking is a dangerous behavior to teach and the handler can really get injured. After all these horses were meant to be calm in a tent when you went to bed in the Sahara, not try to kick your face off.

After I watch this I have to go look at something like the Royal Irish Draft Society presenting their stallions in hand. All of them looking and behaving like normal, happy, confident gentleman. I dislike this type of show-biz display, it's unseemly to the dignity of the horse.

That is neither a relaxed leading nor a relaxed horse,that horse is so agigated that it would attack her . And her handling him is downright bad, you do not constantly rip on the leading line. That's what makes him so agitated that and from her body language she is scared

Arabian stallions can be temperamental and hot headed, but with the right handling they can also be responsive and respectful. This horse was panicked, and the way the handler dealt with it was not ok.

The most incredible of all Gods animals. I think they have the horse trained to look right at the judges as they run past them. I have owned a few of my own horses who were so precious to me that it makes me wince when I see the Arabian horses with their necks outstretched and the whip in the trainers hand right by the horse’s muzzle and they seem to jerk the chain which looks like the horse is afraid of getting whipped . I apologize to anyone who takes offense by my saying this. I think I just don’t understand the training that goes into showing the stunning features of this most amazing of all beasts, the Arabian horse. So perfect are they, that the purity of their blood improves any breed. This creature takes my breath away! Thank you for your video

I really hate halter. Being in the Arab show world myself I have to say it’s just disgusting. All headshy nervous wrecks. I’ve seen very few handlers I respected. Poor horse getting popped in the face constantly and on top of it poor manners and lack of respect arise from the horses. I’ve only worked with a few ex halter horses and they were explosive. It takes a long time to calm them down and show them they don’t have to be anxious all the time. Bad handling like this is why Arabs get labeled as hot and crazy.

@Cathy246014 жыл бұрын
They don’t act like this all the time. They train them to pose and act like this for shows because that shows off the points of their conformation that the judges are looking for. I would agree this handler seems aggressive. But they show them this way in order to show off the arched necks and the contour of their face, gate, etc. They don’t treat them this way all the time and if you know they history of the breed you would understand that some of this behavior is normal. The horses are meant to be swift and light, that’s why they show them that way to show those things. In order for the breed to continue the best horses have to be selected for breeding and this is part of that. I would think this handler is too aggressive. But they also aren’t being tortured just because they aren’t standing around like a quarter horse.
