I take 750 mg NAC per day for almost a year now w/ other supplements. I've noticed I am calm throughout the day. I don't lose my temper. That's big for me. But I only take the supplements once a day so I cycle up and down. I could take a second tablet but one is working more or less. I've also noticed I don't have breathing issues. I work around steam coming off shrimp cookers that are heavy in histamines from the shrimp. It's actually dangerous for some but I have noticed less congestion. And the Weighted Blanket has been an absolute game changer! Thanks for the great advice.

Thank you for dividing the video into chapters! I feel relieved and excited. When I read a video title, I’ll have a specific question pop in my head and because you created chapters and labeled them accurately, I could jump straight to my question “What is N-Acetylcysteine?” to find the answer. If I see a video is long and I know I don’t have time right now to watch the whole thing to find what I’m looking for, it ends up in the watch later list and mine has almost 1300 videos there, so it gets lost.

@@DrJohnKruse FDA attempts to ban NAC as a supplement is because it was effective against c0vid (notice how the dates coincide with EUA requirement period), one of many censored effective treatments that together could've reduced the death toll by well over 90%. You missed this fact due to the limited sources of information you were paying attention to during that event.

In the first week of 600mg, my HRV jumped significantly, indicating parasympathetic recovery. I started dreaming more, or remembering them. Recovering from vax injury in the setting of CVID and hEDS, and post viral from dengue fever a decade ago. Mainstream left me to fend for myself. Myocarditis and Hashimoto’s just cleared up. 🎉GABA is my other new fave. Still hoping to ramp NAC and see improvements with OCD.

With more conventional medications, OCD often takes a longer time to respond than does depression, so it is possible that with more time on the current dose of NAC you will see improvement there as well.

Gonna drop a quick tip for the comment section. These NAC tablets can be rather large and hard to swallow. What can be of tremendous help are thick milk shakes. My favorite is the vanilla flavored ensure nutrition shake. It provides lubricant, and it’s thick enough of a drink that it actually tricks the mind, so it feels more like a gulp of water opposed to swallowing a pill.

Hello, and thanks for the info! I've frequently supplemented with N-acetyl cysteine for over a year, and I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of nine. My anecdotal thoughts: Even at 36 years old I can't say that NAC has an obvious impact on ADHD symptoms, but I do feel like 1000mg of NAC every morning may have helped my liver recover from a bout of alcoholism in my late 20s to early 30s. Other than that I feel like NAC is....there. It's probably having an impact, but nothing game-changing.

What would you suggest to be a safe yet effective dose for anyone wishing to experiment with NAC? Are the effects immediate, or would it take time to build up in your system?
@DrJohnKruse
@DrJohnKruse Ай бұрын
In the study of patients with ADHD and lupus, they looked at 2400 mg and 4800 mg a day. When both doses were lumped together, they were statistically better than placebo, but it looks like that was almost entirely due to the 4800 mg dose. Most of the supplements I've seen are 600 mg. Most individuals I have worked with started with 1200-2400 mg for a month, and then adjusted if they thought that would be helpful.

Milk thistle is great for preventing liver disease, but most docs will advise you to stop once diagnosed to avoid putting further strain on the liver. I'll make note of that brand though and include it in a video about prevention! 😊

The way that NAC rescues the liver from Tylenol damage is by boosting glutathione, which can neutralize many (but not all) liver toxins. The anti-free radical action and anti-inflammatory action also should aid in liver reovery.

Thank you so much! Do you have any suggestions to ease Adderal withdrawal? Specifically, the extreme fatigue, brain fog, and hypersensitivity? I've tried Wellbutrin, but it doesn't do much. Thank you for all the information.
@DrJohnKruse
@DrJohnKruse Ай бұрын
I won't offer the cliche that time heals all wounds, but most people do find that withdrawal symptoms diminish with time, and remembering that can help some people through it. Some people are helped by guanfacine. I'm not aware of controlled research on withdrawal strategies when stopping stimulants, but certainly tapering helps with many other classes of medication.

Some people were promoting it as an aid to clearing airways / help with breathing, since COVID's major target is the respiratory system. I didn't run across any controlled studies of that use.
