Excellent pieces of kit, we were issued them 20+ years ago and they are still going strong and look (almost) like new. From memory we seem to think the central section was the 30Ltr component and the two side-pockets were 10Ltr each Thank you for your time making this video. Stay well, stay safe. OK tips on the NI patrol pack. You can add on an NBC respirator British Army pouch to the back of the NI pack. Feed the NBC pouch strap through both sides of the webbing and re attach the buckle clip to the pouch. You can also use cable ties to hold it on. British Army webbing can be attached. The Ammo pouches at the back of the pack above the respirator pouch. Again with cable ties. The NBC pouch can be used for food rations. The Ammo pouches used for water bottles. Use a nylon waterproof cover to keep the rain off come in different colours and sizes. I got over a 70 litre one for when the pack is full. Other attachments. You can put an MTP ammo pouch onto the shoulder straps get your phone, a compass, or water bottle. That's all the tips I have for this pack now. 👍🏻 🎒🏕🙂🇬🇧. You can use the NBC respirator pouch as a little day pack for food and water, if out walking or foraging. 👍🏻 I also use an NBC respirator pouch as a little lunch pack for work. Other tip you can fit a British Army slim hip belt and attach the waist belt to it with the hip belt clips. Feed the hip belt through the back loops and then feed the waist belt onto the hip pad. 👍🏻 cost about £10 on eBay.

Yes or attach a side pouch to the front too.

I've unpicked the top lid and side pockets from my tatty one, so it's now a rectangular 30 litre bucket with just the thin zip pocket in the lid. Lower profile and less temptation to stuff shizzle in it.

I was issued one of these in the army and I loved it, I still have it now and they were designed to sit above your webbing. 😀

Morning mate, spot on. I use it with my 58 webbing lol.. Tc Andy 👍🔥🇬🇧
@ptechapple2 жыл бұрын
@@stealthandysteath1069 I forgot to mention that the larger horizontal straps near the bottom of the pack are so that you can thread the waist belt through when you are not using it and fasten it at the front of the pack. 😀

Do you know if Bergen long back are compatible with a PLCE DPM webbing kit?
@ptechapple17 күн бұрын
@topomanist Hi the long back Bergen should be compatible with PLCE DPM webbing as far as I can remember.

I would have been happy to have been issued something like the NI pack, but when I served in NI, we were still using 58 pattern webbing, so blokes would buy OG packs, a number of companies made smaller packs then. Good video, just a bit miffed when you mentioned it as being NI being a debacle!!
@simonsignolet56322 жыл бұрын
You're right, it HAS to be more than 30 litre. You can easily fit 2x full PLCE Side Pouches into the main compartment then a 3rd, using the storm cuff (it'll be a tad wonky) - with some space to spare. Add to that capacity, the pouches on the sides and top. The longer loops at the bottom of the side pockets are for stowing the "waist" strap when not in use. IF you can feed the buckles through it! (TIGHT) The patrol pack was intended to be used in conjunction with PLCE webbing, meaning that it sits on top of the pouches on the waistbelt. If you want to extend the lid and you're okay with doing some basic sewing, just buy 2x (genuine) Fastex/Nexus side release buckles (SR25) and some 25mm strap. Or, alternatively, buy 2x PLCE Other Arms Shoulder Holster Waist(?) Straps. (These are usually NOT recognised as being part of the shoulder holster harness and are often sold as quick release utility straps) Genuine ones are made ONLY in DPM. The label on the inside of the lid will have the NSN and that's the thing to look out for. I picked up a well-beaten patrol pack for £8 and removed those side pockets - PERFECT for squeezing through confined spaces and cheap enough to not care about throwing it about, which it's indifferent to. A few squaddies modified it this way, apparently. The PRI/Karrimor thing is 45 litre - and even better. A totally different design with loads of variants.

Superb bit of kit better than any MTP stuff. It's more like a 50l when full. Can be modified too.

I fancy putting two NI packs on the side of a longback as Super rockets lol, The ladders on the front you mention can be used to secure a rocket pouch using a couple of tent/basha poles if you're not a stitchmonkey 👍

Thanks for a very informative video 👍. I also have an N.I . Pack,.and find it great for an overnighter camp. Built like a tank, but only 1400 gms, which is amazing, and loads of storage capacity as you say. Defo a good bit of kit to own.

At minute 9:06 you talk about the straps that are in the side pockets and you say that they are longer (those that are at the bottom of the pockets), those straps are longer to be able to pass the waist strap through the front of backpack. Try to pass the waist strap through that place and close it in the front. The military, having to take off the backpack quickly, do not use the waist strap (in many cases they cut them or wrap them with green tape). It is an excellent rucksack, very comfortable to use.

I've just got one and doing the walk through with your video to help👍. But I'm a little confused - you keep saying the molle straps are horizontal, mine are vertical and tbh look the same as the ones on your pack. Am I missing something??
@RambloManiacs2 жыл бұрын
Yeh i mean the ones on the pack are vertical to take straps going horizontally through them. Basically they're not really molle at all as molle is the opposite.
