N scale Kato BNSF SD40-2 repair

Don't know if this means anything, but I have been watching your channel for months! I had a problem with my BN SD40-2, acting like it had a cracked gear, and first, I couldn't see how to split the frame (no screws). Then, was my real problem getting the truck apart? And you solved both and actually the repair that was needed! Now my best and favorite is running smoothly and quietly! So, in short, I wanted to say. THANK YOU!

Great work. Though they run nicely, I can’t say I share your preference for the newer kato mechanism. I like the worm gears in the frame rather than the trucks. The new trucks are too tricky with that worm gear attached. I had the same problem with a crooked truck on an sd40-2 of mine. The problem was those tabs on the worm gear “holder” part. It wouldn’t push down properly in relation to the truck contact strip. It blocked the trick contact from touching the chassis contact strip. Once I readjusted that and properly seated it, the wheels straightened out. Thanks again for these videos. Excellent. 😊👍👍
