I just wanted to thank you for your tutorial. With your instructions, I was able to get my SW9/1200 NYC loco running. It was having issues with the motor making good contact with the frame halves. I used a little piece of 500 grit sandpaper to clean the contact areas on the halves and bent the motor contacts a tiny bit for better connections. This was my FIRST attempt to repair an N scale loco and the only decoration I messed up was the bell and I can repair that. Thanks again.

Those darn pickups are the main issues on this locomotive, as well as the running board. The running board can easily crack, causing difficulties in picking up electricity. The pickups also do not properly help in putting electricity into the motor. This is how my locomotive stopped running.
