I'd say the doors are on the correct side haha ! but that's just me.... Great review man, it's really cool how they engineered this

I'm glad you explained the mechanism on this. It might be possible to build a custom system using that sort of approach, and perhaps arduino or another micro controller to get more precise control. Certainly for larger scale modelers (ho, o or g) you'd be able to make something like this with ease.

I think Japanese buses have the doors on the correct side but then I’m English!

Yes. I know! I've been there. That was my point. I think driving on the left is correct.

In 1960s I had an AristoCraft trolley system with very thick overhead wire rails and the trolley or bus was crude. We're so picky nowadays but that was so fun at that era. It is now so better. Even slot cars were so innovative back then. Thick tracks with joint clips visible and cars barely detailed. I only have a few now but looks prehistoric compared to stuff I got this week by AutoScale. I like slot cars but Faller has nicer system. Anyhowl, were spoiled now. I can't stand Lionel so I got 2-rail DCS locos for example. I'm so spoiled I now only want hybrids. My Dash-8 is terribly obsolete....

in conclusion, this system works the same as the faller system (vehicle follows wire on road) which means faller cars and trucks can be used here as well. if you plan on making your own roads like I do, I'd say screw the set and try to find the vehicles them selves, then lay a thin steel wire in your plaster roadway for a cheaper and more realistic look

As long as it works, that sounds like a great approach!

Does the steel wire need to be in "one piece" or can I have the roadway to go across the gap of two modular layout sections? Could be very interesting to add as I have a very long section of highway running parallel to the track over several modules.

I just purchased one of these GMC buses from Germany. No charging cable came with it. My question is what is the cable and where can I purchase it? I purchased the bus after watching your video. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know for sure, but seem to recall the charging cable as a USB on one end then regular USB on the other end. Your best bet is to check around on the internet.

Too bad it’s battery operated as it may not hold up very long in storage, additionally, you’ll need to remove the bus periodically in order to charge it. I was hoping that it used magnets under the road. With a system built on magnets, it’s easier to make your own vehicles and storage is not such a problem. I still like it and the price seems reasonable. It’s very tempting but I only use trains during the holidays. They sit in storage most of the time and I tend to choose a different scale each year which means that it could be in storage for awhile. The battery might go bad on me. It’s still very cool. Thanks for uploading.

How does the pausing/stopping mechanism work? Does the magnet trigger a delay switch inside the bus or something? Seems like one could save a lot of money on "track" by just embedding a piano wire or something under their own roads on a more permanent layout. Also so many reviews of the tomix bus system show they take 2 sort of hearing aid batteries, while this one charges. Is that their new standard system?

You would have to direct specific questions like that to the manufacturer. We are simply reviewing it here.

I also have not seen the USB chassis, which would be nice. You can certainly do your own piano wire layouts if your roadbed is thin enough. The stock plastic roadbed is about 1mm between surface and wire, but it may be able to work with 1.5mm-2mm if your road is smooth to avoid bounces. The pausing mechanism seems to work because there are multiple magnetic sensors along the chassis length, not just the main steering sensor. Certain combinations command the motor for different sequences, but I don't think any of them are really documented that well.

I was unable to find anyone with the set in stock so I had to purchase the components individually. It cost more that way but that was OK for me as I wanted the green and white bus anyway plus I was doing a "two way" setup with 2 buses one running in each direction. Setup is easy once you figure it out. It is important to set up the "bus stop" correctly. My bus was running wild all over the place, falling off the roadway until I realized the "bus stop" pieces were set up wrong. I had some problems setting up the buses. The pins on the black pieces that go on the front and back of the chassis do not fit in the corresponding holes on the chassis. I was afraid to force them in so I drilled out the holes very gently by hand with a 1/16" bit. The fit was then a little loose but by holding the front and back pieces to the chassis I was able to insert it in the bus body without a problem. The second problem I had was that on one bus the front wheels were hitting the body when they turned causing to bus to do crazy things. There is a slight adjustment that can be made to the front wheels from underneath by loosening a philips screw there. That solved that problem and all is working well now although I'm not really sure the buses speed up and slow down very much. One is definitely faster than the other. All in all a very neat item. Love the American "old look" GM buses. Have to see if TOMIX makes a chassis to fit the Wheels of Time "Mack" bus.
