It is such an underrated class; I think it was the least used class in the trilogy according to Bioware. The turet and drone are essentially 2 temporary squadmates - and Tali can add a drone of her own! In the Arrival DLC, I managed to survive the very difficult horde-like mission because the enemies were shooting at my drone while I was shooting them in the back. The Engineer has complete control of the battlefield.

It was 6% for Engineer and 8% for Sentinel. I think what made people stray away from them is the lack of weapons while also being squishy. You were a pet class in ME2 and in ME1, almost all your squad mates have Tech Powers. (Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, even Liara has Neural Shock) so you were effectively on the sidelines the entire game. That being said, I like how they showed the least played classes some love as Engineer has 2 class based interrupts and Sentinel has Tech Armor visible in most ME3 cut scenes.

Mordin is an excellent squadmate for the ME2 Engineer. Mordin's evolved (rank 4) Cryo Blast has 4.5 second based cooldown. With the -20% cooldown in the Engineer class passive, this means the Engineer can strip shields and armor with Overload and Incinerate > freeze with Mordin's Cryo Blast, and have both Engineer Shepard and Mordin get off cool down at the same time.

M-97 Viper sniper rifle was great in ME2. In ME3 I felt so OP with the tech powers and using the M-90 Indra sniper rifle as well. When ME1 finally became available for ps3, I played it safe and used the Soldier class cause the gameplay was so different compared to 2 and 3. I will try Engineer class in the Legendary Edition once it comes out.

Engineer is my preffered class to play, Devestting Combos, Very good at slowing down attacks from NPC opponents. I Have to say that I was never restricted to pistol, SMG only and could use sniper rifles and assult rifles in my Game. For me personally Engineer class is more fun because of the mayhem you can cause at a distance, or having a couple of Geth fight for you up front was always hilarious...in a way indoctrinating them for several seconds kind of counter to what your fighting against...some Irony there always made me smile when doing so.

With the amount of tech power combos along with useful squadmates, you can go thru each combat situations with ease. Especially ME veteran and know what you're doing. @@robbybobby4373 Mass effect 1 insanity wasn’t really that difficult if you played any of the biotic classes. I called my drone and turret Ben and Jerry. Also, am I the only one who bugged that the Engineer is the only class that gets a special story choice?
@loganschenk38713 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. On the one hand, engineer got a bad hand in Mass Effect 1 because of how poor the skills seemed to be and how poorly they scaled when turning up the difficulty, particularly in comparison to biotics. Because of this, the engineer was rarely chosen and BioWare tried to get people to try it out again in ME2 by giving it a research bonus. Still rarely chosen. The interrupt in the Omega DLC is a reward for those who persisted with the class despite its unfortunately poor reception despite the class being massively improved from 1-3. So from that perspective, I’m glad it got an exclusive moment that other classes didn’t. On the other hand, it’d still be cool to see exclusive moments for other classes.

Sentinel can help with unusual and difficult situations, but needs to get creative under pressure. 4. Adept had great crowd control and guns felt optional, but single-target damage could be lacking. 5. The engineer definitely wasn't that impressive in the first game but I had fun. Second game it started getting way more fun. ME3, it's one of the most busted classes ever. It's just built around tech combos and destroying reapers. Tossing the maxed out turret with the flamethrower and shock abilities, and then unleashing the drone with the shock abilities and detonation abilities, is just insanely broken. Love this guide. I think i've only done one engineer playthrough and i struggled to enjoy it cause it felt weaker than other classes. While the combat classes are simple, they hit hard and tank hard hits, the biotics always felt strong because they could toss enemies around and in later games could cause explosions, the tech classes always felt the least loved to me.
@Elurdin3 жыл бұрын
Well, tech classes in ME 3 get more variety in explosions than biotics, thanks to cryo, electric and fire explosions being possible. In first game though biotics were just too good since they worked regardless if enemy was protected or not. For me engineer was much better than adept in ME 2 because control abilities like pull or singularity worked only if enemy was basicly close to dying, no armor or shields meant enemy is dead anyway.

My most recent playthrough was an Engineer, I found a build that was SO fun, but requires having a thing or two unlocked. Dominate (requires you choosing Morinth in a playthrough), Ai Hacking ensure you can even the battlefield, you bring Tali and Legion with their own drones and I haven't found much that could stop that in ME2 and it works well with Tali in the team for ME 3 too

So what's the engineer's solution to armored units and heavy units that can charge at you? I mean a banshee teleports, has heavy barriers and a heavy armor, Brutes also have heavy armor and charge at you, lets not forget the super elite units you encounter in the Citadel DLC - Armax Arena, I mean the Collectors are a whole new can of worms. As a Vanguard I rely heavily on constantly recharging my barriers using the biotic charge otherwise some of them can one shot me, how can an Engineer do anything against, say: Collectors, super elites? I'm curious because I would love to try the class sometime.
@N7Kate Жыл бұрын
Engineers especially in ME2 and ME3 are very well equipped to deal with armoured units. Overload can be used to strip shields/barriers and then incinerate and cryo blast are great against armour. If you keep power recharge at 200% you can spam incinerate and overload for a fire explosion in ME3. It will strip armour quickly. Cryo Blast and incinerate will also cause a Cryo Explosion and shatter unarmoured enemies and slow targets down. If you take a teammate good with crowd control powers like Singularity or Lift you can easily control enemies once you strip that armour.
@GamingSpoiler Жыл бұрын
@@N7Kate I guess it's doable, also I think if I extremely minimize the weight by only carrying a shotgun (specifically the Venom) then the combination of abilities and firepower would be unchallenged.

Awsome info as always. I don't think this is the class for me though. Out of all your videos so far, I think the Soldier is the front runner. Only thing about the Soldier though is that I feel like I'll be pigeonholed into taking certain squad mates due to the lack of tech/biotics of the Soldier. I've heard good things about the Infiltrator and Sentinel though. I look forward to seeing your videos on those two classes. 👍

Is the ability to use any weapon confirmed in ME2? I thought it was only ME1? How would that conflict with the ability to pick a weapon in the mission in the game?
@N7Kate3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't know, they haven't said regarding ME2. But I do know they're trying to make the combat more consistent across the trilogy
@TheAzureGhost3 жыл бұрын
well in the mission where you pick one weapon you either get a new weapon type to play with or a special weapon of that type if you pick one you already know (in the old version) so if you can use all from the beginning it becomes just a choice about which special weapon you want to get (as soldier you already had all pickable weapon types in your arsenal even before the legendary so not much changes in that regard) I wonder though what they will give the combat classes in compensation if they make all weapontrees accessable to all classes as that was kinda the biggest thing the soldier class hat going for itself in ME1..... On the otherhand you already were able to use all weapons with every class in ME1... you just did not have their skilltrees (which made them pretty much useless... especially the sniperrifle which had so much sway without skill investment that it was more a "aim in the general direction of the enemy and wait for the crosshair to pass over the enemy before firing" instead of just aiming at someone....

@TheSuperhomosapien3 жыл бұрын
@@Sp_tacnik In ME1 I don't. Either Liara or Tali are usually better options depending on the situation to fill the role I need Kaiden to fill if I'm even considering Kaiden. In ME3 he's usually dead because of how useless he was in ME1, especially considering Ashley is the only pure combat companion in ME1 and is a beast if she's geared properly and you pick the right skills. I feel bad about not picking him though...
@Sp_tacnik3 жыл бұрын
@@TheSuperhomosapien Interesting. I usually save Kaidan because Ashley can be replaced by either Garrus or Wrex (assault rifles). In ME3 Kaidan has great powers to deal with any type of protection and gets assault rifle training too (also personality of Kaidan in ME3 is much better than in ME1). ME1 Kaidan supplements well Ashley (maybe because they are the starting squad just like Jacob and Mirandain ME2 are) - tank and support with guns tech and biotic... And sniper infiltrator Shepard pairs great with Kaidan plus Liara.
