@DxDeksor7 жыл бұрын
Probably due to the people who made games back then that were using overpriced synths to produce their musics and didn't convert it completely right for OPL2 or 3. Even when it was converted correctly, they didn't use the OPL2 and 3 at their best potential I think
@BlazeRhodon7 жыл бұрын
True. Only Japanese music composers knew best how to use Yamaha FM synthesis chips and they wrote special sound drivers based on Music Macro Language (MML) like Professional Music Driver (PMD) created by Masahiro Kajihara. I know even games that use PMD sound driver and they sound a lot better than generic MIDI implemented to OPL2 and OPL3. These games are Princess Maker 2, Mad Paradox, Totsugeki Mix! and Rusty.

dude, this sounds really, REALLY nice!! i think my favorite aspect of this is how you did the choir (there's just something about how the notes overlap and then go into vibrato once the harmony's complete that feels so satisfying)

Aw thanks. The idea came from a Polymoog, where the synthesizer generates a PWM square wave and a vibrato sawtooth wave for every note played. It sounds reeeeally good with a filter on it.

Sure would be a shame not to use all them channels, now, wouldn't it? Actually the reason I used so many channels was because i was imitating the way a Polymoog works in place of the choir sound. Doing so required two channels per note. 3 notes at once meant 6 channels for that alone. And then I filled the remaining channels with echoes, as always.
