The bible says to be away from the body is to be with the Lord, And Moses and Elijah are in heaven, they reappeared in Jesus transfiguration on the mountain, And Jesus states in Matthew “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” - Matthew 22:32 Jesus is quoting from Exodus 3:6, where God speaks to Moses from the burning bush and identifies Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jesus is implying that although these patriarchs had died physically, they are still alive in God's presence. Hence, God is the God of the living, not the dead.
