How exactly great for scene ? What is cool on game where 1 person wins every s tier tourney ? We have probably best top 20 right know, on the other hand absolute top is about same 2-3 people, thats biggest problem of aoe scene for me.

@@jenkyg It's not a big scene in order to have a big variety. Hera wins a lot, yes, but isn't still on the Viper level of winning EVERY tournament for some years in a row. We have some new and some old dogs that are still pushing. I think it's always nice when there's at least one person pushing the boundaries.

I think both can win each other eitherway. I think hera,yo and Viper have about the same chances. its depending on daily performance and stuff you have to do in real life for preparation. I think Viper is in another stage in private life, so that his play standard won't skyrocket as by other players anymore. This is a point of getting older and getting other priorities in life. So don't blame Viper so much. its like always, you are at the top and get replaced someday. back in the days, Lierey and Viper were the Top 2. MBL was way more in the tops as today as well. Time change.

I think of the same. There will come a time when stuff happening that changes what you have to prioritise. I didn't watch live on twitch so I don't know if viewers there were trashtalking Viper after this matchup or not. I am surprised by vipers level this set. G1 was practically a giveaway. Game 2 boomed to 150 vills, and never got more than 5 land military units. Hera was up faster to imp, with more vills, more relics, 10k more resources collected, water control, and by the end got the land control as well. why no units by viper? i don´t understand

The thing is, not a single game in this set looked like Viper was ahead. Good games feature some swings, advantage goes from one side to the other, but here Hera was ahead all the time. The series shows that the peak AoE2 is on a cosmic level - when one player goes into games unprepared or unmotivated, the 2nd one rolls over him.

Hera won very convincingly. However my impression is among the two, Viper is more incline to take riskier strategies in order to try and surprise his opponent, such as feudal aggression on G1. The full wall of Hera into fast-castle proved deadly and very rewarding for him. Same with G2. However, while giving him credit for impeccable and very on point defense, it seems to me he's not taking risks. I'm wondering how the games would look if Viper fast-castle and boomed as well. Maybe that would give him a better chance?

How is it not a good sign for competition? Historically speaking both in terms of AoE2 and many other sports, it's actually a great thing. Look at what TheViper's dominance back in the day brought to the game, people tuned in just to see him win or hoping to see him lose, and challengers rose up to try and topple him, leading to players like Liereyy and Hera. In all sports there is a huge boom in interest when a single player is dominant, because it's a mix between fans of that player wanting to see his streak continue and haters wanting to see someone beat him. Either way it statistically brings in a lot more views than when the scene is an even playing field. And eventually someone new will beat Hera, with a lot of new young players on the rise even now. A lot of them are probably thinking they'd like to be the first to do it, and seeing Hera play at the level he does only motivates them to push harder and reach that level themselves.

I don't think this is an apt comparison. Teamgames are very different from Soloing-games. You can't just simply pick a player out of a team game, and say whether he is dominant or not, it's about the team all the way. Better would be comparisons like: Hera now vs Daut/Viper in his prime time, or Mayweather vs the rest (Boxing), or Khabib vs the rest (MMA) ... these are soloing area. And yes, I would say Hera is dominating like these guys. But still, everyone has a bad day, the last game against Yo would be the final test, whether Hera is truly dominating the scene right now or Viper was just having a really bad day. I root for Yo.

I think it depend on how the scene responds, most pro players don't just give up when one player is dominant. It can lead to them trying 10x harder/practicing more to catch up and can inspire new potential pro players to get involved. It's not inHERAnlty bad for the game (sorry I couldn't resist)
