I heard you ask what period this movie is set in during the beginning scenes, and when Nacho is an adult it takes place in the 70s which is reflected in the clothes that everyone in town wears

I watched this with my cousins and uncle, and we still say "it gave me no nutrients!" when we get bad food at a restaurant or something, lol.

@@AlcyoneReacts Not that I know of. I believe he's involved in independent cinema, so he might have other movies, but they're probably less well-known.

I always liked this movie since it came out. Some people don't like it, but it fits my sense of humor perfectly. As an American with Mexican background and having been a kid in the '70s and teen in the '80s, I have a sense of the early Mexican wrestling scene, not that I watched it, but I do recall Mil Mascaras "A Thousand Masks" and such wrestlers. I also recall there were these action figures like the one you saw on the bus, but the ones we had were mold castings and they didn't move, but they would be painted different colors. I don't know why, but I was fascinated by them as a kid.

The story behind the commedy is based on "True Events." Of course some events and characters are changed and exagerrated.

Man the amount of times I’ve seen this movie with my mom is a lot. I was born in Mexico but came to the US at age 5 and haven’t been back since. (I’m 28 now) From what I’m told and that little bit I remember of this movie, isn’t too that far off in certain areas. So this movie hits close to home since I haven’t been back in many years. Racism in Mexico isn’t uncommon. So to feel “offended” with suff in this movie… native Mexicans say worse to each other lol

A very quotable movie in general life situations. "Eez just for fun." "GetDatCornOttaMyFace!" "Dis...eez da worst lunch...I has ever had." "Maybe it's time for me to get a new duties." And so many more that just fit nicely into awkward IRL scenarios. (...and always with the over-the-top bad accent!)

Our family loves this movie! It's so hilariously bad, it's ACTUALLY FANTASTIC!❤ So many quotable lines in this movie, "I used the grass, to wipe my...tears." 😂😂😂 Their "training" montage, is soooo pointless, I always end up cry/ laughing.
