BILL SAVED STAN!! He says backwards in the scene where they are in Stan's mind "AXOLOTL, MY TIME HAS COME TO BURN I INVOKE THE ANCIENT POWER THAT I MAY RETURN" This could be to save Stan's memory's so that Bill doesn't die. Think about it, All the other people that had there minds erased with the memory gun never gained that memory back but Stan his whole life within a couple of hours. The thing bill said must have protected Stan's memories and he gained them back with a trigger, the trigger being a couple pictures of a summer he had. So I think Bill saved Stan so that Bill can just stay in Stan's mind. Bill can't get out of Gravity Falls in physical form but he is no longer in that form, and Stan is leaving Gravity Falls with Ford to find and study the anomalies he found and that could be what Bill is waiting for. DUN DUN DUN!!!
