My hometown, my Mom & Dad worked for the Rock Island RR. He was a diesel locomotive mechanic. Tracks everywhere, sometimes we'd get penned in the city lol I always had to leave earlier for work in case a freight was coming through.

At about 3.30 in how is it that that the BNSF train does not activate the rail crossing gates we see? Nice video, I will be going to an overhead view to check this area out, as i don't think I have ever seen so many steel truss bridges located in that small of an area ever before. Nice job!

Looks like a great place to watch trains, awesome video and action! The crossing is no longer a manual crossing. It's automatic now. Used to be manually controlled by a tower operator.

Class J Video Productionit was one of the last ones in Illinois too. The area still has some searchlight train signals though

Class J Video Productions It sure didn't look very automatic in this video, as trains go through without signals activating or gates lowering.

How is the connection between the GT and B&O coming along? it will be interesting to see how traffic patterns change at Blue Island. I finally got to see what that single track bridge was used for when I saw some vintage footage from the 60's. It was an interchange track between the GT and IHB.

3:28 - Why didn't the gates lower for that Z-train?

Great vid and compilation. My favorite was at the six minute mark where you caught that EMD "hat trick" was ACe Leader. Was that a K5l Didn't sound like the standard on-board K5LLA!

I've been there before. Do you really do all that shooting from the street? It looked very difficult to be there without trespassing.
