Translating Swedish Idioms

"Finns det hjärterum, finns det stjärterum" is an expression that can be applied to four people sharing a couch made for three. If they like each other enough, they won't mind crowding together to make room for someone else that they also like. In other words. There is room for you in our hearts so we make room for you on the couch. And the butt is not devided, it's parted.

The blue cabinet is because way back when you used to keep a potty in a cabinet in your bedroom, you usually had a blue cabinet for all of the linnen (bedding, curtains and so on). And if you shit in the blue cabinet you've really done it. You fucked up hard xD

Oh, you know, in Russian we have an equivalent to "Låt maten tysta mun" - "Когда я ем, я глух и нем" (While I'm eating I am deaf and silent). Wow. They are almost the same.

My favourite idiom has always been and will always be "att glida in på en räkmacka" because the translation is just so funny and it makes no sense in English.

I wonder if "Nu är du ute och cyklar" has the same meaning as Finnish phrase "olet pihalla kuin lumiukko" (you are out in the yard like a snowman) which means that the person has no single clue what is going on.

Finns det hjärterum, finns det stjärterum. I would translate it as follows: “if there is room for heart (= goodwill), then there is room… to get a room” (meaning: “if someone or something has a place in your heart, then that same someone or something can - more or less figurative-ly - settle in/fit into a situation no matter what hardships”). The idea of “fitting into the context/finding a settlement” is expressed by the image of someone managing to take a seat (or rather “place his/her bottom”) in a crowded space and succeeding in doing so.

"lugn som en filbunke" - The word filbunke is known since the 17th century but it was not until the middle of the 19th century when it was insured in Johan Jolins (www.dramawebben.se/forfattare/johan-jolin) A comedy (En Komedi); "jag är lugn, lugn som en filbunke".

"Nu är du ute och cyklar" should include "på hal is" too which means "Now you are riding a bike on slippery ice". Which means something is bound to go very wrong if you continue.

Swedish: Hare English: Hare Swedish: Kanin English: Rabbit I know he said the old word for rabbit is hare in english, maybe he forgot the fact that we have the word kanin for rabbit in swedish (or perhaps the word for hare and rabbit was once one and the same in english idk). Third option is he doesn't know there is a difference between the two animals.

Kim Nyberg In German we have: Hase and Kaninchen.But we distinguish between these two.A Hase is a big rabbit and a Kaninchen is a little bunny.
