Is it possible for an auto (vehicle) bulb to work? They make so many sizes for dashboard and courtesy lights. Would AC vs DC make the bulb fluctuate? Might be cool lol

I'm glad they sound good. They look ugly enough! I picked up a T755 for $150 with a bland dot matrix VFD, and I like the sound. But, some of every type of connection on the back doesn't work -- optical, RCA input and output, and speaker terminals. Probably dry solder joints. One of the fans makes noise for the first minute after startup :) Enough conections work to not be an issue at all for a 2 channel receiver. I'm really happy with the purchase.

NAD sound great. They look basic but looks are not what it's about, sound quality is.

What equipment are you using to digitize VHS tapes? What video capture device? A video would be helpful. Thanks.
@12voltvids8 ай бұрын
I don't disclose the equipment that I use. This is my business and I would rather not give my competition any information. I even do work for others that are in the business (i have formats like umatic and Betacam that they don't have) and they ask what I use to get the quality I have. Obviously that's a competitive advantage and I don't disclose that information. I will say that the equipment can be purchased it's not cheap it is specialized gear you can't just go and buy it in a store. It's hard enough to make money doing digitizing as it is because there are so many people that are just using cheap $50 dazzle devices and doing it cheaper so prices have to align with people that are offering the same thing at a lower cost because most people don't care about quality they just care about price. Incidentally the only reason i show how to repair electronics is because that's not my business. I retired from the electronic service industry in 2003. if I was still doing this for a living do you think for one second I would be showing you or anyone how to repair anything? No I would be keeping that information to myself because that would be how I make a living. I give away my trade secrets in repair that I learned in the 20-plus years that I was doing it for a living because I don't care and I want people to know how to fix stuff but digitizing tapes is my business. The capture cards that I reviewed on my channel are not what I use when I'm digitizing tapes. I will give you a hint though the piece of equipment says made in USA on it and that's all I'll give you.

@@12voltvids Ok, I understand your point. I have found an old '97 tape that we filmed with my friend's camcorder back when I was learning as a teenager to fly gliders. Fond memories. Naively I tought that my smart TV can record from Scart or AV inputs, but it's not.

Hi Dave, did you test the remaining bulbs in that package to see if only ONE was different ? I ordered some diodes for my solar system and probably 3 out of TEN were different. Might have been a Monday or Friday assorted pack....HA ;-) Thanks for the amp info.

@@12voltvids In a way, that might come in handy for a different project with a higher voltage requirement. I ran into that with a lighted doorbell button and then a hot tub control panel. Mark them if you have a segment in your PARTS DRAWER. I even used a bulb from an old multi-button desk telephone as a replacement in a string of Malibu garden lights.

I can remember when NAD arrived during the Hi-Fi boom era in the 70's and they punched way beyond their weight and gave the UK companies a fright, even though they were not cheap, the UK made amps were even more expensive and apart from Quad their build quality was poor. The early Arcam and Sugden amps looked like they were home made with cheap components, at least they kept me busy!
@12voltvids8 ай бұрын
The class H design confused many a tech. I remember the first one that I saw I looked at I thought what the hell is this. Two different real voltages I'd never seen anything like that and believe me the first one I saw stumped the hell out of me. My audio guy had no clue on how it worked and I had to study it for a while before I realized what they were doing and it was a completely new design. I haven't worked on very many was generally indicates that they're pretty reliable. I had one a few years ago that was completely blown up and I had to change but half a dozen parts in it but it's working great now

@@12voltvids Like most new designs, it take a while for the information to come out on how they differ from what we are used to. We didn't see many in our workshop, unlike the UK brands that often took out customers speakers until we fitted some DC protection circuits that the likes of Arcam failed to fit. The fact that they still sell for high prices proves how good they were and still are, i prefer the smooth easy going nature of them compared to the junk that we have today.
@12voltvids8 ай бұрын
@Barbarapape arcam weren't the only speaker eaters. Crown was another one as was haffler. NAD were very good and still are. They were sold to Lenbrook in Canada. Same people that made the fantastic psb speakers and as far as I know still design them here. They are still around. I have a small NAD 7125 in my bedroom and it sounds fantastic. Have it connected to a pair of paradigm speakers also made in Canada
