Not always jump so fast to Medina University or something like that. Just make sure he's surrounded by the right people, the right community like MCC, or Zaytuna College, or someone like Yahya Rhodus, Umar Faruq Abdalla, in some degree maybe like Hamza Yusuf or like Abdul Hakim Murad (in England).

MashaAllah may Allah keep this brother steadfast. The grownups need to leave him alone so he can have some sort of normal childhood. Even tho he is wise and wellspoken beyond his age, the community should refrain from using him as a posster child. There is no doubt he will take the right steps inshaAllah and may Allah make his journey easy. It is not rainbows and roses for convert muslims who leave their faith, many times family, and everything that is familiar and then absolutely have no one on Eid etc. Hope and pray for the best for this child.

Better for him to attend Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California. It offers both the Islamic and Western traditions in higher learning. I guess that would be the right fit for him.
