You need to get rid of all the weed roots. It looks suspiciously like ground elder, which is really invasive and very hard to control. The trowels you are using are just tickling the surface. A fork would be more effective.

Can’t understand why you aren’t using a garden fork, would be much faster! Love GFH and Nanny Di, but maybe you shouldn’t mention about what you used to do to your fish and rabbits MAAARK, not nice. Will look forward to you going to a garden centre again.

You need to buy a few daisy grubbers for weeding 😉 We had Budgie called Fred growing up...used to clean out his cage with my late mum, fond memories which reminds me of Carry On At Your Convenience with the late great Hatty Jacques and her character’s budgie Tommy...she cleaned out his cage every time he ‘dirtied it’ 😂 Your garden is really taking shape now...exciting times ahead too! 😊
