It's been a great year for beauty, so many new brands, new products and even new categories that it was hard to narrow this down to just a few buys. But here they are my favourite products and brand launches of 2017.
Let me know if you think I have missed out on any and I will make a second part to this - why shouldn't I include your favourites too?
This is mainly skincare but some makeup too - maybe I should include haircare in the next one? Let me know what you think.

Hi Nadine, love your reviews. If you ever meet the founder of IT cosmetics again, please ask her why her brand doesn’t even contemplate the existence of women of colour (even slightly olive-toned for that matter) despite it being repeatedly brought to their attention through the years. Thanks x

The Ordinary Buffet and Niacinamide, Pixie Glow Tonic, Philosophy Vitamin C powder, Dr. Gross eye serum and Belif Aqua Bomb are my new faves for 2017. I also increased my use of essences/mists, oils, and masks of all types. I learned so much from you, Hirons, Uppies Beads, Gothamista, Trinny, and Stephanie Nicole. Thank you!

First of all thank you Nadine for all your wonderful videos! My best find for 2017 is not a new thing, just new to me. It’s John Masters Organic Scalp Treatment. I have very fine thin hair which is prone to falling out when I am stressed etc and this product has given my hair a new lease on life. It stimulates the scalp, has a fresh herby smell and makes the hair a little “gritty” allowing for a boost of body. Can really recommend it!

Hi Nadine, I love the Dr. Sebagh Serum Repair but when I ran out last time I bought The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% which I also like. Being truthful, as a consumer I didn't notice any difference between them, so apart from the huge price difference, is one better for 50+ skin then the other....I'm about to run out and don't mind buying the Dr Sebagh again if i know it will benefit my skin. Ever thought of having a 40+ Day when you and other beauty industry professionals give talks and people get advice on skin care regimes, hair and make up etc.? I use lots of the products you talk about but with ranges by companies like The Ordinary and Paula's Choice although the customer service people are great at giving online advice, it's not the same as having someone look at your skin and recommend products appropriate for your skin. Thanks for the brilliant Vlogs......love them!

Hi Nadine, it would be great if you could please highlight the fact that the IT Cosmetics BB cream, which is not cheap, has irritating fragrance in it and therefore not suitable for acne-prone skin. It saves people money and is a more accurate reflection; please take it as constructive advice rather than anything negative. Ditto ordinary - would be great to find out the PH level of the Peel in order to determine its effectiveness. I LOVE the Super Hero mascara though - bought it on your recommendation and couldn't agree more!

I would disagree on one point you made , I think the western market boomed in mask production due to the popularity of Korean sheet masks . All of a sudden everyone was stocking them , everyone started making them ,etc. My favorite products of 2017 were : dermaroller , Mad Hippie range (only discovered them this year ) , Votary superseed oil (better deal than the I-have-to-get-a-bank-loan-to-buy-you Vintner's Daughter serum oil .... ) , Lyonsleaf cleansing balm and The Rose Tree carrot and mango cleansing balm . Haven't tried Glossier this year ,maybe will have a go at them next year (via a forwarding service since they don't ship to Croatia .... ) .

The level of production is insane ! I watched a documentary about the beauty industry in Asia (mostly talked about Korea) and I was left speechless . I have been using Korean skincare for around 3 years now ,and they do have some really good stuff . Also, just to add , if you want really good quality sheet masks & affordable too check out Taiwanese sheet masks , they are the BEST ones out there and a really good deal too . I buy mine off eBay and am super content so far .

I'm really confused. There seems to be so many serums and moisturisers I don't know which way to turn. In using a vit c serum under my mosturiser (decleor) and then a spf30 and sometimes a primer. For evening I've been using liquid gold 3 times a week before I put on night cream but I think This is too harsh for me. Can you please suggest something that exfoliates gently and if I should be using another day serum. Thanks in advance. Ps I love your videos.

I think my favorite skincare product of 2017 would be Estee Lauder revitalizing supreme cream, totally unnecessary but it's the only moisturizer whose texture I enjoy putting on my face. Other favorites are probably Differin gel, DCL C30, Neostrata Hydroquinone+PHA 10, Lauder micro essence, Kate Somerville retinol firming eye cream and Murad city skin age defense SPF.

I love the way highlighters look on the skin. I have heard however that if you are over 35 to forget anything with shine including shimmer eyeshadow. What do you think? I have been looking at the Bobby Brown glimmer brick. Thanks
@ocandro
@ocandro 6 жыл бұрын
Deb Blake Well it's been a while since you've commented, but in case you still want to know: 1. shimmery and glittery eyeshadow can accentuate wrinkles, hence this very old rule. But the formulas have changed so much for the good that you can absolutely wear it if you want to, most of the top make up artists use (especially finely milled) shimmery eyeshadow on 40+ women with gorgeous effect. you can always put shiny stuff on the mobile lid (or just in the middle of it, it creates beautiful dimension and bigger, rounder eyelid) and always in the inner corner and you can put mattes in/above the crease for better contours if your eyes are hooded/deep set by age or by nature. Rules are meant to be broken though . 2. there are h ighlighters with pearly or metallic shine and ones with wet/slightly oily skin effect. you can use the latter to great effect anywhere you want and can and with the metallic ones you might want to avoid wrinkly areas (crow's feet etc) and large pores or scars.

Have you heard about the IT cosmetics 'anti-ageing Armour' (super smart skin perfecting beauty fluid)? Looks fantastic but not available in the UK apparently, tried to order it from 'Sephora' - put it in shopping basket and a message came up saying it was a 'restricted' item! Have written three times to IT cosmetics in the UK, no response, tried to ring them - couldn't get through - why on earth would a cosmetic be restricted?? Slightly annoyed that I can't get an answer because it looks like a lighter version of the CC cream and works with your natural skin colour but provides coverage where needed. Would love to hear if you have heard of it and if so, is it available anywhere in the UK.

Giulietta Ciambotti Caroline Hirons used to say (and still will) “take it to the tits” especially when talking about Retinol/Retin-A. I think Nadine might’ve made her own version of that brilliant statement!

Hi Nadine. Love this video. Don't think you've mentioned this brand but I just love it -- the products as well as the founder. Jordan Samuel Skin, created by Jordan Pacitti, here in the U.S. I use almost everything in the range. Best part is the products work and are affordable. Hope you'll check it out and consider giving Jordan some of your "Beauty Know It All" love! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

My fav product is the mineral sunscreen from clinique spf 30. (not the 50 one because in this one the ingredients gets strange...) and timeless Q10 and b5 Serum. Love your videos and I wish you calm and great holidays! Greetings from Austria, Alex

This was the year i tried LaMer skincare. I really rate the tonic it lasts forever and really gives your skin that hit of moisture . Rodial has been another shocker for me. The 8-1 hydrator is amazing . And the Stemcell range my sensitive skin loves it. For eyes Algenist was another win for under eye. Lips would be ByTerry Baume de rose . Mask I’m torn between the Sisley black rose and the Zelens instant renewel. Both amazing !. Love the dermalogica superfoliant !. But Rodial 5% scrub rocked my socks too. :)

Hi Nadine, I’m a newbie - slowly trying to work my way through your channel and learn the basics! I have so far bought a HA and Retinoic acid from The Ordinary. Hearing you in this vid say to be careful with acids if using RA... does that mean I shouldn’t be using RA all the time? Would like to try out AHA /BHA so would appreciate any advice on how to cycle these products if necessary? (Love the vids, and have my mum watching now too!) xx

You're such an interesting and informative watch I've become a new subscriber. Would love to hear your take on some hair and body care products. So far, I've been loving squalene and Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair.

That Clinique serum has definitely been one of my favourite products of the year. I liked the Ordinary hyalaronic acid as well, but I prefer the texture of the Clinique one. Also, good old Advanced Night Repair, that I repurchase every wear. As for brands, my most used have been Ren, Avène and Clinique. I'm 34 and I've found the older I get the more sensitive my skin becomes, so I appreciate unscented products. I can't wait for Glossier to deliver in France so I can finally try that concealer.

Thanks so much for all your advice! I have followed you for ages & really enjoy your videos! I am currently using Dermalogica for a lot of my skin care products, however, use the Paula's choice retinol and have been using the Tetra Medik8 vitamin C which is amazing, I love it! It has helped give me clear, glowing skin for the holiday season! Have a super Christmas! x

Regarding mascaras: I couldn't agree with you more, Nadine! I want one mascara to have it all: length, volume, thickness. I don't want to have several different mascaras for different purposes, that's costly and time-consuming.

Can you recommend a peptide light cream. I see all these moisturizers and hunt for the peptides. I'm seeing massive results from indeed Vitamin C and building to their Retinol Reface. Bought,but haven't tried,after seeing such results from the Vitamin C the indeed Collagen and Q10 and see they have a peptide..tide cream so where does that go? I also looked you up on your pentapeptide Olay video.. I can't help it I like to be informed. I'm not tingling within the Vitamin C 24% but seeing great clairity and even skin tone but tantalizing over the new DCL 30 night scape I use vitamin c most nights and build up to the Retinol Reface.. the Indeed line is so cheap I gotta try it geesh. Hope your enjoying a wonderful stress free holiday!. Renee

Can i ask you Nadine if you have any concerns over animal testing in L'oreal products you love so much?. The company claim they no longer do this on animals but they still sell in China, who require you DO test on our furry wee creatures. I certainly think you should be looking into that and NOT whether they will bring out a transclucent powder!

You know, I already walk around, do housework, watch TV, etc., while wearing a sheet mask. You just buy one of those $3 silicone cover masks off of Amazon that fit over the top of your sheet mask and your mask won't move and as a bonus, they stay moist a looooooong time.

My newest skin care obsession is organic , cold pressed Rose Hip Oil. Amazing change in my skin! It's natures 'natural retinoid'. Then I use an 8% alpha hydroxy cream and my skin looks glowing and new.
