My pilgrimage on the Norte continues! Lots of talk about too many pilgrims, which I'm now kicking myself for because what I wouldn't give to be out on a Camino again, crowds or no crowds. I might like walking alone, but the community aspect of a Camino is something I'm really missing at the moment.
Enjoy these shots of the beautiful Camino del Norte, and stay tuned for Part 3!

Did this same route in 2018. Your are walking many of the same trails I did as well. Great to re-visit them again, especially due to the fact we are all locked down here in the U.S. Thank you

You're welcome, I'm so glad you're enjoying them! I was finding myself drawn to Camino videos that others were posting and then thought- oh, I should start making my own!

Thank you for posting these videos, they're great. I'm hoping to walk the Norte this fall, after cancelling in 2020. The Arles/Arogones perhaps in 2022. It was lovely to enjoy these walks vicariously. Buen Camino!

I do hope you'll be able to get to the Norte this fall! I had plans to walk the Portuguese last summer, and it's feeling unlikely this summer as well (but I'm still holding out some hope, maybe for a short Camino at some point this year?) I hope we call all return safely, sooner rather than later!

@@NadineWalks My hope as well. I'm trying to pry open my calendar to walk part of the Norte for a few weeks in October, should that become possible. In any event, thank you for the great videos and for allowing us to join in vicariously. Wishing you all the best.

Try the Pilgrimsleden, Oslo to Trondheim (Nidaros). The guidebook says don't do it before early June, but we started on May 9 because it was our option with work...and we were by ourselves, except for 1 guy. Did have some snow initially, but after that, it was like walking in perpetual spring time as we headed north. And, even if you decide to go during the (short) season, you'll be pretty much alone. We were the 3rd and 4 people to get to Oslo and #s 1 and 2 skipped the best part (imo), the Dovrefjell, possibly because of weather? Don't know, we didn't meet them, only saw them writing ahead of us by a few days in the journals. We did have to miss the biggest mountain as it was closed for snow, but otherwise, we did it all. AMAZING!! Just prepare for all seasons, watch the weather, it'll rain a lot. You'll have to carry more stuff, including food for days, but yowza, the P is super great. It's a tough hike, but if you can do the steep Norte, you can do the P. Buen Camino!

Thank you so much for this recommendation- last year at the beginning of COVID, I actually researched this walk!! It looks amazing and I'm eager to do a walk like this (but slightly intimidated, too!). It's very helpful to hear that the physical terrain isn't too difficult, and that if I could do the Norte I could do the Pilgrimgrimsleden too. I'm so happy that you had such a wonderful time on it!

Nadine, - o que achou do Albergue do Monastério de Zenarruza? e do Hostal em Pozueta? são bem diferentes as concepções? - Portugalete é linda demais! - O albergue que ficou em Pobena é muito procurado?

I noticed that you had done all the Caminos I intended to do next year. I'll do my third French, second Portuguese (but last time in 2019, I started in Tui after the French), my first North and this time I do intend to also do Muxía and Finisterre. I have a few questions: What would be the best order? French, North, than Portuguese? Best moment to do Muxía Finisterre? How long I will need? At the Moment I am planning to do from June 20th to September 20th... . I CAN start earlier. This year I done the French from April to end of May and flew back to Brazil in June. The French was very cold on the first 2 weeks and I did not have the proper outfit for the extreme weather. The day after I passed Saint-Jean-Pied there was a snow storm and the path was closed from Orisson to Rocesvalles a few days yearly a Brazilian had died 5 km frm Zubiri.

Retiring next year..will finally have the time to do something like this...Been a day hiker for decades....done a few multiday hikes like the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim. I am used to the American south west hiking..the surface looks a lot more "friendly" than Arizona or Utah....did you factor in a rest day every now and again?
@NadineWalks
@NadineWalks Жыл бұрын
I've dreamed of doing the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim! I don't usually (or ever?) do rest days on the Camino, but that's just me- many people do. Sometimes if I've done some long days, or if I'm leaving from/arriving to a city, I'll plan very short walking day so I have some time to sight-see. But mostly I love the routine of walking and start to feel restless if I don't! But there is so much to potentially do/see along the Camino (plus the benefit of giving your body rest), that taking a day off here and there makes a lot of sense.

I just found your channel and am now binge watching while it pours down outside. I have one question: why is the little walker symbol on your map walking in the wrong direction? That really bugged me because at first I couldn't figure out which way you were walking.

Oh, haha, this didn't even occur to me!! They were just the hiking icons that I thought would be fun to use, but you're right, on the Camino I was moving east to west, towards Santiago!

OMG, that was a very nice walk and very nice places as well, I travel mainly for food, did you have any good food related experience in any of those towns you would like to share? Which of those towns you like it best? Cheers 👍

There are so many great towns along the Norte! San Sebastian is a place I'd like to return to as a non-pilgrim, so that I could take time to really explore. The food there is fabulous. Actually, I think you can find really good food just about all along the Norte (especially seafood!).

@@LB-kc4ri Yes, the Norte is very, very beautiful! I think there are a really good amount of pilgrims- sometimes there aren't even enough spaces in the albergues for everyone! But it is not as crowded as the Frances. I think you will definitely meet others and make very good connections!

Lovely to see this but given you were relishing how peaceful it was without anyone around it seems odd that you would want to invite the world in via your camera and not just enjoy being alone, as you said you do....
