Optimistic. Rafe has said stuff in the past that raised expectations. I just hope this season meets the expectations Rafe had suggested. He made similar statements before Season 2. I liked Season 2. But it did not meet the expectations that Rafe made it seem like. For Season 3, I will ignore Rafe and the cast's statements of how they think the public will enjoy Season 3. This way I can view it with a blank slate

I'm not 100% sure Siuan is saying "The world is changing" it could be someone from AoL too. 2. Has anyone considered that Nyomi is spying on Liandrin for Verin? 3. I think the person getting strangled on Rand's bed is Mat. He also had a bubble of evil in Tear and it convinced him that being near Rand was dangerous. Maybe that's inspiration for him to go to Tanchico instead of the 3 Fold Land. It also explains the wounds on his neck.

Great breakdown! I think your idea that more of the action will happen in Tar Valon then we thought makes a lot of sense. I will be very happy if we get a couple bubble of evil scenes. The shot that confuses me is Elayne with the crown. It could be from her accepted test, but I do not think we will actually see her accepted test in the show.

I think they might have Mat travel to Tanchico with Elayne and Nynaeve, but then he finds a stone doorway there (instead of Tear) and goes into it, they could probably have both doors combined into one and have both questions answered and boons received, and then Rand finds him hanging from the Avendelesora tree in Rhuidean. That would get him into the main storyline without too much changed. I can't wait to find out!

Mentioned elsewhere, not the actual Bangles cover. It's a bangles-esque version with an orchestral theme. Still, just a fantastic choice. We know Egwene does the accepted test. In the books Elayne does it as well at the same time almost. I'm guessing the Elayne scene is from her accepted test. The crown would actually be in Andor so I think this is a vision.

I hope Ilyena appears in flashbacks and get some actual characterization apart from being Lews Therin’s wife. She was an Aes Sedai with a third name herself and must have done something important. She could appear in the earliest Rhuidean flashbacks. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rand quickly learns the exact identities of his mother and brother from Rhuidean visions or the Wise Ones. Rand’s mom was credited as Tigraine Mantear (obviously not an Aiel name), not Shaiel. Maybe she didn’t even change her name in show canon.

Agree, Egwene's accepted test comes after the black ajah are chased from TV (with Alana's tragedy) - only accepted can leave the tower to go to Tanchico as directed by Siuan before the coup - so I expect we get the snippet of Elayne at this time as well.

When two forces are fighting each other in real life in thd streets, it is common for people to try stay off the streets. Even during the Battle of Falme, many streets were empty of everyone but thr combatants. Given that it would take some time for the fighting to spill out of the White Tower and the grounds, I do not have an issue with the streets being empty. There is enough time for the citizens to seek shelter off the streets.

In the Age of Legends scene with the giant statues, the dark figures walking across the floor give me strong vibes of the dress suit style/cut worn by Lews other Aes Sedai in the flashbacks. Not that this is them (certainly not Lews), but the rear one does feel like the female Aes Sedai (Latra Posae Decume) who argued with Lews in the S1E8 cold open. Same face shape, hair pulled back. A very long shot, but that's my gut feel!

I'm pretty sure it's Maksim that will die. My guess is Guy's comment is in reference to his death scene and whatever heroics he does before. Ivhon is the one that lives in the books and I don't see any reason for them to arbitrarily change that. But what I think is even more important: Maksim revealing to Lan last season that his bond with Alanna is almost always masked. If he dies, it's going to dramatically affect how Alanna handles the warder bond going forward... which has interesting implications for future events.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Maksim dies but I also could see him living and Ihvon being slain. On The Dusty Wheel they really analyzed the still of Alannah crying out and the fact that it looks like Maksim’s shoulder because of the upturned flair of his shoulder vest. They think that it looks like he’s slain and she’s turning towards him as he’s on the ground….but I think you can look at it differently. I can see it playing out that Ihvon who was on her opposite side from the direction she was facing was slain…..and she’s turning towards Maksim who looks to me to be upright for comfort or support as he obviously would be struggling with Ihvon’s loss as well. If this is true that could mean that Taylor Napier does get to kick some ass in the Two Rivers later. I’m not trying to be contrary….Just a guess. Either way her losing either Warder will be devastating. 😬😞😉

Re "you cannot fail again" - maybe Moiraine attempts to use Rand to trap Lanfear, but he is unable to bring himself to kill/capture her due to their shared past/his protectiveness towards women. Lanfear then creates havoc, they try to lure her again, Rand is still unable to kill her, and we get the docks moment? Re the ?bubble of evil - I wonder if the show could make these traps set by Moghedian, as a way to further her character of trap-weaver, softly from the shadows? She did catch Lanfear in a pre-set trap at the end of season 2. Completely agree about your thoughts of Tower timeline re BA exposure (and SO excited we get to see this on screen!) and Tower Coup as happening much later, perhaps when Elaida arrives to enquire about the missing Daighter-Heir? This also when Mat has his quarterstaff moment, and then he overhears danger to Nynaeve and Elayne and goes after them to rescue them. Wondering about Rand's timeline - if we get Glass Columns around episode 4 - could we get the whole Cairhein Couladin battle as well say episode 7? And then episode 8 aftermath, the battle won, everyone realxes, and we get the extra gut punch of losing Moiraine.

Re: Elayne’s crown… I wonder if Elaida brings her the crown on behalf of Morgase when she arrives in Tar Avalon (probably after the fight with the Black Ajah). Elayne is offered and tempted by the crown but ultimately decides she has other priorities. Can’t wait to find out!

Excellent breakdown! I particularly liked how observant and insightful you were on some details that other breakdowns have missed, such as it being Couladin (not Rhuarc or Moiraine) being the one walking with Rand towards Alcair Dal. One big question I have though is: Are you sure these clips are mostly / all from the first 4 episodes or so? The shots of Perrin at the Battle of the Two Rivers is likely from Ep. 7 (we know that episode "Goldeneyes" will be focused on that) and the shots of Rand, Couldain, Lan, etc at Alcair Dal are likely to be from Ep. 8, assuming the season roughly follows the book order (and we know Ep. 8 is titled "He Who Comes with the Dawn"). Also, the Season 2 trailer had numerous shots from the S2E8 finale. If I am correct about this trailer covering the whole season, then the biggest question remaining to me is: where is Asmodean? I guess they could just not be showing him in the teaser, but even beyond seeing him, will there be time in the story this season to fit him in?

Totally agree re the start. The bonkers start is Liandrin and others being outed as black and that sets up the Tanchico (and Ebou Dar) storyline, before Siuan gets deposed (ie, coup). We know Elaida has been cast, so would be pointless not seeing her in the teaser unless the coup is later in the season.

If we open season 3 with Liandrin and some of her friends fighting their way out of the White Tower having the coup at the same time makes no sense given we were shown a scene of Egwene's accepted test with Siuan there leading proceeding. If she was in a life or death fight against the Black Ajah and then being deposed all at the same time I doubt she could take a time out to test Egwene. To my mind the fact that Liandrin and co were able to escape will be another crack in Siuan's authority. Combine that with her failure to hold Rand and stop/capture one of the Forsaken in season 2 to say nothing of loosing the heir to the most powerful nation in the Westlands that is also a hard core ally of the White Tower is likely going to be the ammunition needed by Elaida. Throw in word starting to spread about the Dragon being reborn and a lot might think the WT needs a firmer leader and who better than a Red who knows how to handle men who can channell and is well connected with the WT's biggest ally. Perhaps seeing Rand gaining some much needed support from a certain group later in the season might be balanced by seeing the the WT under new and far less friendly management.
