Hello! I traveled by train from Nagano Station to Nakatsugawa Station. The travel time depends on the type of train you take. The local train takes about 3 to 4 hours, while the limited express takes around 2 hours. From Nakatsugawa Station, you can catch a bus to Magome-juku, which departs right in front of the station, Platform 3. The bus ride takes under 30 minutes. Simply pay the driver in cash (¥570).

During the winter season, there is a direct bus service from Nagano Station to Nozawa Onsen. The approximate cost for this bus ride is around ¥1,600 to ¥2,000 one way. The journey typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions. You can take a limited express train from Nagano to Nakatsugawa Station, which takes about 2 hours and costs approximately ¥5,000 to ¥6,000. The exact cost may vary depending on your starting location. Bus from Nakatsugawa Station to Magome-juku: From Nakatsugawa Station, you can take a bus to Magome-juku, which costs around ¥600.

However, if you're just staying in Nagano city, they're not necessary. But if, like me, you tend to get cold feet, winter boots are the best option to keep them warm.

Please visit the Alpico Bus website (visit-nagano.alpico.co.jp/timetable/nagano-nozawa-onsen) for the latest information. Alternatively, you can take a local train to Iiyama Station and then transfer to a bus heading to Nozawa Onsen.
