Hi, werent there any buses going to the upper shrine / main shrine?
@cherrywanders3067Ай бұрын
Hello! 👋 The bus takes a different route in winter and doesn’t go directly to the shrine. Instead, you’ll need to get off at Togakushi-Jinja 中社 and walk for about an hour to reach Togakushi Shrine Okusha (Main Shrine) Zuishinmon 戸隠神社 奥社 随神門.
@euge0Ай бұрын
Hello. Thanks for the video. Did you find it a challenging hike? I plan to visit the shrines in January 2025, but was told it was dangerous because of the snow. However, in your video you made it look easy!
@cherrywanders3067Ай бұрын
Hi! The hike to Togakushi shrine is relatively easy and takes about two hours round trip. Just make sure to wear appropriate winter clothing to stay warm and winter boots, as some areas may be slippery.

@cherrywanders30672 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! 🙏🙂 If it snows by the time you reach Karasawa, it’s better not to attempt the hike to Mt. Hotaka. However, if the weather is clear, it's safe to hike up. It's advisable to wear a helmet for safety, as the climb is quite rocky, but crampons aren't necessarily required.

The exact cost may vary depending on your starting location. Bus from Nakatsugawa Station to Magome-juku: From Nakatsugawa Station, you can take a bus to Magome-juku, which costs around ¥600.

Hi, I'm planning to go to Japan in Feb 2025. Would you mind sharing the most picturesque Japan winter destination that you've been to (near Tokyo)? I'm into landscape 😊 Thank you in advance!!
@mayonnaise00772 ай бұрын
there isn't much of a picturesque winter landscape near Tokyo, you need to go to the countryside, like Nagano, as shown in the video. My recommendation if you're planning to visit Nagano is to stop by Obasute Station. It's an overlooking station with views of rice terraces but in winter they look somewhat magical

@cherrywanders30672 ай бұрын
Thank you! 🙏🙂 I stayed at Lodge & Log Cottage Villa Happo, which has a reasonable price. There are other lodges and hotels, but they tend to be pricier and farther from Hakuba Station. In late September, the daytime temperatures are generally not too cold, but it can get a bit chilly at night and in the early morning. A windbreaker and a light down jacket would be a good idea.

Hello! 👋 By early December, Togakushi Shrine is likely to have some snow, but the amount can vary from year to year. While the higher elevations in the region tend to get snow earlier, consistent and significant snowfall might not occur until later in the month. For the best snow experience, plan your visit between late December and February.
