The build up to him was perfect with Jiraya and the entire backstory there, he wiped out the entire village and "killed" some of our favorite characters aswell! At best their pain is comparable but I don't know how you can make it seem like Nagato had it worse

I'll never get over the fact that Pain was the perfect final villain for Naruto-- a child with godlike powers whose life is marred by tragedy and loss and the fear of people around him before being taken in by Jiraiya. And instead of defeating him by having stronger powers or smarter tactics, Naruto beats him by showing him compassion, demonstrating that they've experienced the same trauma and showing him that he can channel his pain into protecting those around him rather than making the rest of the world suffer. Literally showing him how he can be a better person. It's a perfect ending... except it happens a third of the way into Shippuden 😭

The more I grew up the more I started to understand only someone who knows pain can understand the nature of this world. Pain will open your eyes if you allow it. A soldier who's seen his comrades fall and killed innocents who were following orders. A mother and father who witnessed the suicide of their child. Someone who lost their spouse to cancer. Losing your pet who loved your more than anything in the world. Experiencing torture and rape. Pain is the ultimate expression of this world - an expression meant to convey how powerless we are. We are all trying to escape suffering, yet it is unavoidable. This twisted dance has started since the beginning of humanity and will likely never end. Pain wanted to end this dance and erradicate suffering, and even if his methods were drastic, his objective was noble. If I were born in the Naruto universe and experienced so much war and suffering I probably would've joined him.

Pain is one of my favourite villains ever. Everything about him was top tier, and I think the best thing about him was his ideology. Honestly I’m willing to create a fan manga based on this guy, introducing all his acts seeking peace through pain. I was thinking about a story of the Deva Path going on a journey alone, while the akatsuki members were left planning. He would feel all the hate and greed on the shinobi world, killing people and destroying villages to make his name feared.

That fight was annoying to me because he takes down the 6 Tails Stage 2 form like it was nothing. I get he was caught by surprise and Naruto wasn't, but it just made it weird to me how he struggled so much against Naruto's Stage 2 Tailed Beast mode and was surprised by its power.
