The Misaki Nagatoro Supremacy. Lives up to expectations. I see the route the dub took, making it about Naoto’s right to use her name instead of learning it. It fits a lot better than learning it since the first season’s dub (every dub, as far as I’ve listened) spoiled the “reveal” at some point. Kudos to the localizers who found a way out of that mess.

Yeah, considering how American sitcomcs have conditioned me to expect family members being written as antagonistic towards developing romantic relationships between the main characters, it's always refreshing to see family members instead be supportive wingmen/women, but still be funny despite the reversed position. Especially since it suggests to me that mainstream media writers are FINALLY learning that mean-spirited humor and toxic relationships of two people interacting despite having genuine hatred for each other aren't the ONLY way to get a laugh (though Always Sunny and Konosuba prove that that doesn't mean such mean-spirited comedies HAVE to cease existing, I'm just saying there's room for both, and within the same show in fact).

I don't know when they'll announce it, but I am looking forward to Season 3 of Komi. We'll finally be getting Rumiko Manbagi (the gyaru), the one character I want to see the most come to life in anime form. The live-action version just didn't do her justice, if you ask me. Also looking forward to seeing Ase Shibuki (the girl who sweats profusely), Kiyoko Isagi (the neat freak who becomes student council president), and Rei Natsukido (the daughter of a friend of Komi's mother who spends a week at Komi's house). But I'll watch it in the Japanese Dub first, because I don't like the narrator narrating everything that Komi does in the English Dub; she didn't in the Japanese version. Why Netflix, which has the rights to Komi, can't just use a masking tool to mask over the text boxes describing what Komi is doing and replacing the Japanese text with English text (like how other anime dubbing companies such as A.D. Vision/Sentai Filmworks or Funimation/Crunchyroll do it) is beyond me. I also plan on watching Nagatoro in the Japanese Dub, because of this scene right here. The English Dub already revealed Nagatoro's first name back when Naoto first met Gamo-chan and Yoshi in the school cafeteria early in Season 1. Having him not knowing her first name all of a sudden creates a HUGE continuity error. I also don't like that she calls Senpai "Senpai" instead of "Paisen," as she does in the manga and Japanese Dub. So unless they redub Gamo-chan's lines from previous episodes, I don't plan on watching the English Dub anytime soon.

This anime reminds me of my time back in school and the girl that grew into the woman I would marry. She got me out of my shell, I had a pretty messed up event happen when I was 11 years old. My maternal grandpa took me out for our Sunday walk and he started complaining about chest pain and then he collapsed on top of me and my grandfather was a big man, almost 7 foot tall and muscular so he weighed a lot, but he had a weak heart, and I have inherited the same condition), I had to pull myself out from under him and then try CPR on him until I knew I should go get help which was a two minute sprint away. When I got back to the house and told my grandma what was going on she started screaming bloody murder and became useless at that point and I had to call 911 myself and then my parents who lived up the road, that was about a 5 minute walk away. Thus, my mom and dad would get there first before the EMTs and my dad knew a lot more about CPR than I did seeing how he was a prison guard. When he got to the house with my mom, my mom went to calm down her mother while my dad and I went to go try and help my grandpa. I knew just like my dad did when he seen him on the ground that he was gone and so did my dad for sure after seeing this a few times before where he worked. He did CPR until the EMTs got there and when they got they they tried for like ten minutes and then said he was gone and that their was nothing they could do except take him to the hospital and maybe there they could get his heart to start moving blood around his body again. His heart has not completely stopped, if it had according to my dad and the EMTs there would be nothing they could do. The defibrillator or shock they use doesn’t bring back a still heart all it does, is attempt to correct its movement so it can go back to pumping blood like normal. My grandpa’s heart was quivering which meant it was still moving but was not moving blood. He ended up passing away that day on May 19th, 1991, and that day changed my life a lot after that happened. I think that is when I truly lost my childish innocence forever… I was mad fun of quiet a bit during high school because I was taller than all the other boys in my class. I did not know it then but now I know they did this because of jealousy because of my size and the fact that my family was upper middle class to rich, because both of my parents worked in the federal government and operated a wood cutting and production business on the side. They were also jealousy because all the girls liked me back then but I was too stupid to notice back then. But my now wife persisted in bugging me everyday at school and outside at home because she was my neighbour. Those guys in my class that made fun of me until I finally learned the lesson that sometimes the only way to deal with bullies is with violence instead of turning the other cheek like my family taught me. They made fun of me for being upset about losing my grandpa and my now wife stood up for me, which was embarrassing back then, but when I got older I realized that she really cared about me. Well she picked on me in such a way everyday that it was just slightly annoying and never hurtful to my feelings. Over the years we grew apart and came back together, until we were both done university and started a teaching position both at the same time at the same school and we both did not know that until she seen me heading to my class and I heard, “Long time no see BoneHead, lol…” and we started having breaks together and eventually we got together and I learned that she always cared for me but never knew how to show it. Well I think she did know but she was hoping that I would make the first move which I never did because I am oblivious to when girls/women give me hints that they like me… after that we dated for a year and then got married and we have been happily together ever since. We watch this anime together and it reminds us both of when we were both young and innocent kids. The fireworks episode reminds me of a annual fireworks show we both went to every year while living in the area where we grew up. She invited me to got with her and her friends. There were so many signs she liked me but I never noticed. Like if her friends flirted even a tiny bit with me she would get upset, but my dumb ass never noticed that stuff back then… I’ll always remember the fireworks that night. She was cold and I was too hot so I gave her my Meshuggah Hoodie, which I did not get back until high school graduation… If I had the ability to go back in time, I would tell my young self the things I needed to know back then to notice the fact that girls/women were paying attention to me. But then again I don’t want anything in my life to change right now so maybe I would be better off just not using that hypothetical time machine, lol. If I had a dollar for every time she called me a bonehead I would be a millionaire. She also made fun of the things I was into as well. Like the band Meshuggah. She called it just noise or caveman music… and she would always find ways to say the band name using different words that kind of sound the same. Like that video on here that a musician made called “stuff Meshuggah does”, and he called them things like MushroomBurger and whatnot. But like I said, she was annoying but never hurtful to me ever and when bad things happened to me she was always there trying to cheer me up in her own way. When I was 11 and that happened to my grandpa right in front of me and she was like four and a half months from being 11 as well, she helped me through that rough time in my life and even went to the funeral because our families were close both geographically speaking and socially. Watching this anime reminds us both of how our relationship started, developed over the years, and bloomed into what we have together today. I am so happy and so is she, we barely ever fight and I actually cannot remember the last time we actually had a fight. The funny thing now that we have a little girl. She is starting to do the same thing her mother did to me when I was kid… so not only does she look like her beautiful mother but she acts like her too, lol. Life is very strange sometimes. Cheers!

It's an actual part of Japanese culture. People usually refer to each other by their last names. Whenever they refer to each other by their first names, it means they're either close friends or in a relationship

It is THIS scene right here why I will not watch the English Dub. The English Dub already revealed Nagatoro's name as far back as early Season 1, when Naoto first met Gamo-chan and Yoshi in the school cafeteria. Gamo-chan on several occasions referred to Nagatoro by her true first name instead of her nickname in both the manga and Japanese Dub, "Hayacchi," creating a HUGE continuity error in this scene. Furthermore, she referred to Naoto as "Senpai" instead of what she calls him in both the manga and the Japanese Dub, "Paisen;" a bit more forgivable, but still takes away from her character personality. In any case, this scene was a major plot point in Naoto's and Nagatoro's budding relationship, so unless they redub Gamo-chan's lines from the previous episodes, there's no way that they can explain that discrepancy in Naoto wanting to learn Nagatoro's first name (a major step in Japanese relationships; it indicates that you're now close with the other person) in this scene when he already heard it previously. Normally, I am fine with English Dubs, but this is one case where I will be and remain Sub over Dub. And I say that as a writer and storyteller, not an anime fan.
