There are many types of dialects in Japan. Even native Japanese may not be able to understand the dialect another area. Nagoya, where we live, has its own dialect, too. We call it NAGOYA BEN.I hope this video helps you understand a little bit of NAGOYA BEN. I added some footages of Aeriall Yoga. Oh! And sorry about the sound! (_ _)

thanks for this video! My mum's Japanese, from the nagoya area, so I always speak japanese with a nagoya dialect. Others Japanese speakers in the UK might not understand me xD and I find it difficult learning Japanese online because standard Japanese doesn't feel so 'natural' to me

There are some very interesting exercises. I like the combination of the Nagoya dialect and the yoga exercises! Question: If your friend from Osaka and you talk together, do you do it in your dialect or in the "proper" Japanese? If both of you speak your own dialect, do you understand eachother? I am looking forward to your next video!

Eh it's weird that the words / phrases are different in each dialect... it's not just an accent difference (pronunciation of words) but the actual written words that are different too. Is the nagoyan dialect's special phrases considered slang and disapproved of?
@tomokotomoko
@tomokotomoko 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, not only accent but also written words are different... For example, desu → dagyaa, / dagane, shiteiru→ shitoru, etc... There are many Nagoya dialects. Old people use it often. And They can understand standard Japanese.

Tomoko, I enjoyed your Aerial Yoga very much. I felt energized. Part from the stretching, part from your enthusiasm. Speaking of enthusiasm, although I like Victor and his videos, next time you do a video together, ask him to try to act more excited. It was almost as if he was being dragged around by his wife forced to do something he didn’t want to do. Haha. Again, enjoyed the video and both of you.

@randomizednamme
@randomizednamme 8 жыл бұрын
+Dan “WhyteeDan” Whyte Well accents are the way that you pronounce words while dialects are words or speech patterns that are used in different areas. So there is a difference between a "British accent" and a "British dialect"

I have heard some people say "Watakshi" instead of "Watashi." Is that some sort of dialect?
@Nifuruc
@Nifuruc 8 жыл бұрын
+Hector Desu (ヘクターです) yes and no... it depends on the person who says it... it's usually 私 watashi... but the same kanji can be pronounced watakushi... it's usually used by older people... (I guess because I've just heard older people say it) and it sounds very polite... as for younger girls... they might say "atashi" and mean the same but it sounds cute... I've also heard washi and other variations... so - some are dialect and some are related to politeness, gender and situation...
