Keep the tapey goodness coming through the airwaves

Mind blown - I remember being in awe of a Nagra when I was quite young, to see it still being used with modern generative music is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing this!

The result of pairing vintage with modern is absolutely breathtaking. Excellent work here.

This reminds me of Eno's Discrete Music. A bit from the music, but much more for the way your processes emulates Eno's . Inside the album cover, in the liner notes, there is a diagram of his signal flow, and a description of his process. He is taking a AKS Synthi, and running it into an EQ and then into a tape echo/spring reverb , and then into a long, Robert Fripp type endless tape loop, to record/loop/overdub. He would use this to create textures, and loop the results. He would then later, take those loops, like you have done and play them back again through effects at various speeds, to change them even further. Sometimes he would play back multiple loops at once with no hope of ever really syncing them, which created even more interesting emergent textures which were then recorded. Once something good was gotten, it would be recorded finally as one take more or less whole, and then these parts would be "performed" together one final time for mix down. The use of tape and overdub after overdub of slowed down recordings , with the inevitable dark, hissy warbly sound quality and change in timbres and rhythmic elements from changing tape speeds is an integral part of his sound, which this piece captures immaculately

excellent. dig the languid hi-res sweeps and various shifting drone layer timbres. i really dig contemplative stuff like this. the cold modular output really enjoys the hugging by the nagra (which is what brought me here). one day i hope to run my modest setup thru one. also eyeing elysia's various qubes or a cranesong. nice patching and thanks for sharing the full piece. will check your spot as well. carry on!

Successful experiment I'd say. Indeed hypnotic. The ending particularly dramatic. Many thanks Just what we need to break the spell suffocating our consciousness. Looking forward to visualizing this soon.

Absolute banger. Love a Nagra. What's Norns up to here, decoration?
@pierresgenerativemusic2 ай бұрын
Haha. A bit of background rain but yeah, subtle. It’s actually a script I wrote/hacked recently that makes rain and thunder with nice generative graphics.
@oddObjektАй бұрын
Beautiful. What are you doing with the Norns? I don't think I recognize that script.
@pierresgenerativemusicАй бұрын
It’s a custom script that emulates rain and thunder with some graphics that match the sound. It’s on my GitHub if you want to try it.
