🙏 Music can truly be beyond language. This kriti by the great Thyagaraja is about his longing to see the face of his Lord Vishnu. He beseaches the Lord to take pity on him and reveal His face. In the later lines, the composer complains 'even the king of the birds (Garuda) says it's too far between the Heaven and Earth to bring you down here. The rest of Your retinue, they just make empty talk (and don't actually help in bringing you here). Finally, the composer makes a desperate plea and says 'O Lord, you are the ruler of all the world, who else can I plead with? Do not test me any more and show me your Grace!' Perhaps you don't need to know all these details but just knowing the composer's longing for God can bring the music and the composition even more alive.

Sandeepji, Aha Aha Adbhutam, Amogham, What a wonderful voice and especially each & every word reaching the common man. I heard that Tyagaraju written plenty of songs & his motto is to understand his songs by a common man. Yr voice reached into the hearts of a common man who did not even learnt sangeetham. I hv seen that plenty of familiar vocalists sung this song but not reached us. But u hv fulfilled the desire of Tyagaraya with this song & really, really mesmorised us. The word ‘అటులు’ (that way) or ‘ఇటులు’ (this way) does not make much difference. However, the word ‘ఉండుదురే’ meaning ‘they will be like this’ and ‘ఉండదురా’ meaning ‘it won’t be like this’ are diametrically opposite. In keeping with the previous phrase ‘ఒగి బోధన జేసే వారలు కారే’ which is interrogatory, the context demands a question ‘would they be like this?’ Therefore, ‘ఉండుదురే seem to be appropriate. అటులుండదురా’, (it won’t be like this) involves a change in the gender - from masculine plural to neuter singular. Therefore, it may not be appropriate. 6 ఎవరితో - ఎవరితో నే .

Appreciate it. yes. The accompanying artist are the backbone of any music concert. But alas, they are treated as back benchers. This practice should be buried and they should be equally respected with the Singer. They too have put in their best effort to be on stage. To be at par with the singers the percussionist should also know the kritis and it's intricacies. The organisers might say it's not intentional, which cannot be accepted by true music lovers.
