Well duh. You think the SAS are going to advertise and post KZbin videos ? Nobody had heard of the SAS until the tv pictures of these blokes abseiling out of helicopters above the Iranian Embassy in Prince's Gate. Then it became a media frenzy. I remember a party around the time this film came out. Three guys turned up dressed in black with black balaclavas and masks. Each had a big letter on his front. S, A and S. They all wore bandoliers for ammo, with beer cans instead of magazines and stun grenades. I seem to remember a beer can being detonated. It was all a bit silly really. And yes, the SAS are still there.

Lewis was the best James Bond we never had! Lewis said Bond Producer, Broccoli told him in the 80's, that he had been discussed as a possible Bond around that time! But he was concidered by the production team too rough & tough to be a James Bond!!! & so with Daniel Craig's current (much needed & brilliant) tough reboot of Bond, can we say that Lewis was ahead of his time as an action dude?? 🤔 What a quality geeza!!!

I don't know how true this story is as a friend of mine told me - he was a soldier at the time. In 1980 there was a secret competition held between the worlds elite special forces. The US Navy SEALS, Canadas TASK 2 force, The French Foreign Legion, The Green Berets, Australia's Special Taskforce and the British SAS as well as others. Apparently, a special training circuit was erected in a jungle in South America. Climbing nets, brick walls, swing ropes and all sorts of obstacles. Every team would do the circuit as fast as they could with the fastest time being the winner. Complaints were made at the start because apparently the Americans had been there some days before and had s chance to try the circuit out. All the other teams were to do the circuit without any knowledge of it. Thus the Americans had an advantage. As it turned out the Americans did set the standard with a super fast time of 1 hour and 3 minutes. The French Foreign legion came close with 1 hour 8 minutes. Most of the other contenders completed the course at around 1 hour 15 minutes. The British SAS were the last to go and complete the course in 22 minutes. 😎 Make of that what you will.

The course was built by one of the SAS lads who was a former Sapper with the Royal Engineers. They had all of the short cuts figured out and time for a quick pint or three after each obstacle. Chuck Norris was well peeved as he came second. Steven Segal was a non-starter and was last seen sulking while attempting to hitch a lift to the nearest pizza parlour.

My favourite film of all time!!!! This film inspired me to join the US Navy to fight terrorism. The day after watching this film my mother caught me dressed in a black flight suit and gas mask in my room. She was quite shocked to say the least. The hair on the back of my neck stands on end every time I hear the theme song.

Little known fact. The then head of the regiment Peter De La'Billiere wanted the movie shut down but once he knew the film was going ahead regardless he opens a few doors. The scene at the beginning where they enter the camp, that really was Sirling Lines the then base of the SAS. Also at the last minute De La'Billiere told there stunt team who were doing the final assault to stand down and his guys would do the assault. So the final assault is done by real SAS troopers which is why it looks so perfect and slick and why at the end when Lewis is discovered by Steve (actor) the other guys do not pull their respirators up even though Steve does because they are real SAS troopers. That must have been a buzz for Lewis knowing although he is an actor he is leading a group of real SAS troops , the best in the world down the hallway. Lewis got to hang out with some of the SAS guys doing filming and drink with them an they all said he was a top man and the real deal. R.I.P Lewis!

Lewis Colins Passed SAS Selection for 21 SAS The Artists Rifles but by mutual agreement he didnt continue onto Continuation training as he was way too high profile at that time he was doing the Professionals at the time but Passing selection in of itself is a fantastic achievement

The operation at the mews house is properly tense, the ladies act it out really well, Helga is a proper villain. Love the troopers taking them out with pistols. Proper close quarter stuff. Then the break in at the Ambassador's residence is superb. Love the radio chatter between the units and Colonel Hadley throughout the operation. I must have watched both sequences a million times. Love this movie.

However those that decide to go SBS do additional training for beach recce's, submarine launched warfare, naval sabotage, diving, oil rig protection. SBS - Silent Warriors is a great book that goes into their history.

Hi Iceman, Thanks for uploading this. I used to have this on VHS but obviously not now. A classic, which is one of my all time favourite films. I am ex military so can relate to it although certain procedures are different to real world for obvious reasons. Lewis was superb. A class act and so down to earth. He should have been James Bond. He was made for that role and they got it wrong on that one in not making him 007. He would have overshadowed Sean Connery and that's saying a lot coming from a Scotsman that also lived a short distance from where Sean grew up. I have Subscribed your channel. You would be wrong. 21 SAS is a reverse unit as well as 23 SAS. The force make up is as follows. 21 SAS(R) HQ based in London, A Sqdn based London, C Sqdn based East Anglia and Wessex, E Sqdn based Wales. 23 SAS (R) HQ based in West Midlands B Sqdn based Yorkshire and Humberside D Sqdn based in Scotland G Sqdn based North and North West England.

Thanks for the upload, I watched this film years ago, the siege on the embassy and Lewis Collins home are still the best parts of the movie. It came out 2 years after the Iranian embassy siege in London that was shown live to the nation. I was glued to the TV. The first time our people had seen OUR special forces in action, it still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. I am so incredibly proud to think of the thankless work that they do here and abroad attempting to keep the maniacs at bay and our borders safe.

This Film got absolutely slated by the critics (in their no doubt Superior wisdom) but I think it is really well made. Judy Davis lets the cast down a bit but the rest of the characters are really sell portrayed and likeable (even the Environmentalist, peace loving lefties who want a better world for us all) The action scenes are good and Lewis colliins looks perfectly at home in the role, Thanks for the splendid upload.

You can't be serious...She is electrifying and intense in the entire movie! Just like what the character asked her to be. Letting the cast down? An actress like that?? She is the best among the whole cast. The guy Lewis Collins(sorry, you may all love him here in this comment section) is almost with no expression at all in his face during the whole movie! He is here in this particular film as the classic action movie actor: when you don't need to be great but demonstrate toughness and be in great shape. I mean, nothing against him but it seems strange(to say the least) someone commenting an action movie saying that the most amazing actress in the cast is the one letting the cast down.

I love this film but the end to this is so poignant. In real terms, we go in and kick ass like in the Iranian Embassy and then some politician sucks up to someone from abroad intent on doing furhter harm because of some oil deal or other such thing. The politicians are far more violent that any SAS soldier or officer, in my estimation. Great to see this again on here. Thanks for posting. You made me order the film again on DVD.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. From the intriguing initial song until when the Colonel gives the word to attack. The actress could have been someone more cute though, I think.

Lewis Collins acting style really made this film, but great movie plot too. No doubt inspired by the real life events that unfolded in London with the Iranian Embassy siege when the SAS counter-terrorism unit were first glimpsed by the world in action across the world. For those not in the know, Lewis Collins co-starred in the British popular TV series The Professionals, 2 MI5 troubleshooting tough-guys the government called on to deal with nasty people! Well worth a watch if you can find them.

At the time of this movie i lived in hereford right by Bradbury lines & i was sat in the town & lewis collins & flacked by 2 other men walked passed & i did double take as i did he gave me the most gorgeous cheeky smile & a wink , fancied this man long before i saw him & as far as im concerned he always will be , should of be James bond 100% sadly missed 😔

Lewis Collins was the original 80s Action Man. He even looked like the toy Action Man back then. Great to see both he and Edward ‘The Equalizer’ Woodward again. RIP to both 👍

Roy Budd did a fantastic job with the music to this movie as it enhances the movie so much. the director of this movie did a fantastic job too with the action scenes what you see is 1000% accurate to real life with the S.A.S action scenes. If you come up against the S.A.S as a terrorist then you are as good as dead as they take no terrorists alive as they must keep their identity secret.

This was the first time in where I watched Judy Davis in a different film role and she was brilliant. She's also brilliant at playing Judy Garland. To see her play two different roles was amazing and incredible to watch

Have not seen this for ages, loved the Professionals and agreed Mr Collins would have probably been the best Bond, ironic they said he was too aggressive to be considered at the time yet Mr Craig is exactly that, how times have changed, anyway RIP one of my all time favourite actions stars, massively under-rated and under used..

​@@pr-tj5by They only went with Dalton because they could not get Brosnan back then as he was filming Remmington Steel and it was a total flop. The studio cancelled the programme but the production company had the option to film one more series which they did only out of spite to stop Brosnan from being released from his contract. By the time his contract ended he was in time for Goldeneye!

Lewis Collins. One of my favourite actors .he played the part in this.he passed course to join sas after serving time in the army.but wouldn't take him on because of his acting career. Brilliant in the professionals. X

Q. How to stop a baby crying? A. Simply blow a wall, jump though & double tap a couple of terrorists. You gotta love the SAS, secretly covering all our backs since WW2. This film is also bloody good too. Great action, acting (Lewis Collins in particular), superb score & factually pretty much down to a tee. @@davidnelson3757 I believe they had two babies, identical twins which is how films and programs tend to do it. If they need a scene where a baby is crying they will use the one that is tired and hungry etc so they cry and whilst the filming is going on they rest the other baby so when they need a clam baby they have one etc.
