“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

As someone who used to get their nails done regularly I always tipped but I definitely don’t think tips should be expected. The fact that I paid the price you charged should already show my appreciation for your work. Anything extra is just even more appreciation.

I agree Tracey, I never look or count the amount I just ask if they need change and I never expect a tip either. But it sure is a nice surprise when they do ❤️

Those of us who work in a salon owned by another do not have the luxory of settings our prices accordingly. I make a certain hourly rate that is based on how much my boss thinks we make in tips. It sux, but yes I do depend on tips. Otherwise I make a lousy $10 an hour.

Hubby and I are laughing so hard right now! If I raised my prices $5.00 every time Tracey or Habib says to, my full sets would run around $15000.00 and I would be able to retire very comfortably in the next week or so!🤣🤣🤣

Depending on the country people are from that come into the salon. In some countries it’s not customary to tip at all. I am not going to count on tips at all either. I live in Hawaii where tourists come in from all over the world so that’s something I have to consider. Merry Christmas!! 😊

My clients always tip, and tip well. I think that is wonderful, but I charge pretty good for my area, so I already make what I want.

Tips are a gift. Appreciated but not expected. I will attempt to give them change. Sometimes they take it. Sometimes not.

Tipping is great. But I don't expect it. Like Tracey said my prices reflect what I want to charge.

My mind is seriously blown on how much hair cost there. I'm in the Midwest and when a couple of hundred is about the going rate to cut and color mine.... And most people's mind is blown on how expensive that is.

I've understood tipping is mandatory in the States for services such as this. I work for tips myself and don't expect them nor hold it against those who don't tip, but, those who do tip and tip well are moved to vip status and get better appointment times, more attention and freebies.

Check with your technician, they may have changed their procedures or service pricing. It may now be an additional charge for that add on service.

I work tips into my price in the sense that the price I charge is higher so you don't tip lol I need to make a living and my work is up to standard. Just like the queen Tracy said tips are just the nice cherry 🍒 im good with it and without it.

I agree with set prices in order to meet your income. For me, I tip $20 or 20% for their services. I appreciate their time and their service for me.

Stop tipping for nail service. You already paid high price for the service. Do you know that they make way beyond the average salary. Look at how they lived as a nail technician. Overall tipping is getting out of hand at every service. I stopped going to restaurant or places that require tipping. They need to change the system and all of us need to stop tip and make the business owners paid higher wages for their employees.

Tipping for any service is always an option and not required but is very appreciated. It is important to understand that the price a nail technician charges is not what goes directly into their pocket. Most technicians have to pay other expenses and what is left is their income to pay their bills and support themselves and family. Other expenses that techs have include but are not limited to: station/suite rent, nail tech license, business license, business insurance, product costs, cleaning/disinfecting product costs, laundry expenses, continuing education (required by most states), POS/credit card/online booking systems, personal/family health insurance, sick/vacation days off, etc.

@youngnailsinc those nail salon are making 4- 6k month. They are making way more than average wage. People should be aware that they making too much money and stop tipping . Everywhere I go they expect too much on tipping and it getting out of hand. Lately I don’t go out at much as I used to.
