Nakamichi PA-70CE / PA-7E II / PA-7A II / PA-7 II Review - The amplifier that's not what it is.

I worked in a store that sold the pa7ii and it sounded great in the store. i bought one and didn't like it much at home and returned it. years later i got the ca7ii. at this point, i was more experienced with after market cables and it made a big difference especially the power cord going into the ca7ii. so, i surmise the pa7ii would've greatly benefit from a good after market power cord too. also, the pa7ii in the store was powered on for years using to demo speakers. so, it had thousands of hours of burn in.

good taste , my favortite pre-amplifier the Yamaha C-1, the Stasis original model as others are not related and worst than many others while the first released Stasis it´s amazing, my father ofered me a system one when released but i asked where is the turntable and the speakers and the open reel deck to which he gave me a set of JBL´s and a thorens turntable and a RT-707 from Pioneer, while it worked was a fine system with enough power to make me happy

forget to refer that the engenier that developed the Stasis amplifier when Nakamichi released the mkII ,he put the brand in court of law wining the process as the after the original model was a cheap nakamichi amp. nothing related with the Stasis and giving him a bad name for a device that he didnt built, a lot of money envolved and as usual nakamichi as good projects but when building them ,it cut´s all corners to make them the cheapest possible in production costs

Funny enough I've never experienced a bigger sound stage than from this amp. This is compared to much more expensive newer amps. To me the mid range has a slight warn touch and is very engaging. Again more engaging than most never gear. It's only weak point is the bass. It's warm but not as precise as some other newer ones. I suspect you have listened to a warn down one with warn down capacitors. Service usually only means adjusting the idle current and making sure everything works

Well, as I said in the video, the amp is (according to my ears) better than most of the newer high-end amps. However, I've compared her to my V-FETs which are on a completely different level.

@@nickmrt2670 I did actually but I was stupid enough to sell at one point because I was using pre amplifier with build in DAC. My CA-7 was in mint condition with remote control original packing manual and everything. I still to this day regret selling it

@@jwester7009 Wow..just purchased a Nak Pa-7 mkii several months ago and searching everywhere for that preamp. Anyway I’m sure you have a great equivalent.

@@jwester7009 PA7s sound better when driven through a CA7, or CA5. The only real defect is that it lacks a bit of power.

These holdings don’t buy dying companies out of the kindness of their hearts, they either want to suck them dry of all resources as nVidia did to 3dfx for instance or they just want to leech off them. There’s nothing noble about their intentions.
