This makes me so happy. Seeing animals find a loving home is so beautiful and perfect. I just hope you'll break the stereotype of new(er) couples getting a dog and only focusing on them until they have kids and then the dog is forgotten. Dogs are 5-20 year commitments (depending on the breed) and deserve attention and affection they're entire life. *gets off soapbox* Nala is gorgeous and I'm so happy for you guys.

I don't see how that's a stereotype at all. Real dog lovers would NEVER be like that. My brother and his wife had a dog named Frisco all up from when he was a pup til he had to be put down due to cancer. He was apart of my life just as much as he was their life and even when they had their first child, they basically became brother and sister...LOL! And then they had 2 more kids....Frisco was still loved so much. We could tell he was getting really old and just tired so they decided to get another dog from the same family that they got Frisco from....they had the same father. So now he passed away and now they have Annie.....just as loved as Frisco was when they first got him. And I really miss him. It was sad because they had to put him down just a couple days after Christmas. :/

I completely agree! I rescued my jug (pug x Jack Russell) a year ago and the reason why she was given up is because the owners had a newborn baby before that she was abused and mistreated. You see other excuses like working all the time and landlords not accepting dogs ect. I rehomed a pug a few months ago too due to similar reasons and I just think to myself I'd rather be homeless and unemployed than give my dogs up. So nice to see a dog being loved and spoilt like they deserve. Just hope she is their main priority which I'm sure she will be. X

Few tips: 1. On her first few nights, she might cry. Like my dog, she sleeps in a crate but don't go to her otherwise she will cry for months. I know it sounds cruel but just leave her. 2.taping dogs on the nose is a way of telling them off. 3.dont give her if she wee's or poos inside 4. Don't giver her all her toys at once otherwise she will get bored and start chewing and playing with things around the house. 5.when you take her on walks and she meets other dogs she might get scared, but again this sounds cruel, but don't pick her up otherwise she won't get used to meeting dogs. Just leave her and when the dog has gone you can praise her. Disclaimer: I am not telling you to do this, she is yours and you can look after her anyway you like. just gave you both a few tips incase you struggle with anything Hope this helps! Nala is soooo cute x

I agree with everything except point 2: you should never tap or hit your dog, as it is negative reinforcement. Only use positive reinforcement, so if she does something wrong, ignore her until she stops and then praise her with a treat or clicker.

Shay Bater well from personal experience id say that sometimes you need to snap the dog out of a phase or action so less of a punishment and more of a reminder. and remember there not that fragile a gental tap can do no harm.

I have two dogs and have been told and have read that when they are puppies you have to be careful to avoid repeating their name over and over again. This is because they will not understand why you keep saying it and will begin to completely ignore their name:( Obviously you need to teach them their name but dont over do it. I struggle will it myself sometimes because you want to get there attention and you are so excited to have a new family member.

Also since everything is so new to her you have to be careful to not overwhelming her will new things. I mean she is in a new house wish and strangers and more get miss her mum which is pretty over whelming by itself. I would maybe wait to have Nala fully meet the guinea pigs. Also if you don't agree with theses tips that is fine. I am not a dog expert I am just give you tips I have learned from having dogs.

Honestly Zoe & Alfie I hope that out of all the bad comments you choose to read this one. I hope you realize that you two are amazing young adults who have made so much out of yourselves in such a short amount of time. You have inspired those of us who are not geniuses and those of us who are not gifted with an amazing talent and you have shown that doing a hobby like you tube can get you far in life too if you choose to work hard. Alfie: You are always so positive and cheerful and it seems like you really care about your fans and want them to know it. You have accomplished so much, way more than people you're age have. I think some us forget that having your own book and millions of subscribers at the age of 21 is not a common accomplishment. Zoe: Speaking for myself and I'm sure for thousands of other viewers, you're bravery has reached so many people. Anxiety is not an easy thing to deal with. It is something that in some ways is paralyzing. I can personally say that you have helped me in so many ways and I TRULY applaud you for being so public with you're battle because I can honestly say that I don't think I could ever have the courage to do that. Also having you're own beauty line and a book is such a HUGE accomplishment. I know you guys have been getting a lot of hate. But I have also learned in my years of living that the world is what you make of it. Its all about perspective. Don't get me wrong, Cyber bullying is a very serious issue and should always be addressed. I'm not saying the hate should be ignored. I'm just saying that hate should not be absorbed. Whenever you feel like the majority of the people in you're comments are feeding into the hate look for comments like these. They are from the people that would stand outside for hours of you're events to see you and support you're products non stop, not because we as subscribers get anything in return. It is simply because we know that by clicking that thumbs up button you're day will be better. There are people out there that truly want to see you happy. I am one of those people. I have a little pup like this myself. You really have to watch out that she doesn't go on the stairs and also she is not allowed to jump up and down the sofa, because that is really bad for their bones. You also shouldn't feed her any "human" food, because it is better for her to stick to dog food (you can add some cottage cheese to her food if she wouldn't want to eat her own food), still with the food category be careful on which dog food you pick because some pugs are allergic. You also have to be careful not to shake her, because keep in mind that she is a little baby and her hart can stop beating. It is better for her to have a harness, like u already have until she turns about half a year for safety of course. If u will train her (i believe you will) you should train her in different places and not just your house, and try to train her around dogs for good attention (you and Zoe should both train her, so that she doesn't get use to just one of you). THIS IS ALL THE INFO YOU PROBABLY NEED FOR NOW. I HOPE YOU GOT SOME INTERESTING IDEAS FOR HER AND I HOPE SHE WILL STAY HEALTHY. xoxo

I let my dogs freely walk up and downstairs. However they have to wait until I give them premission to jump on sofas/ beds. And greek yogurt or a raw egg is much better than cottage cheese! I have three rescues!

Also you could add just a tiny spoonful of olive oil into her food because olive oil is good for her coat. It makes her coat shiny and very smooth. :) just a friendly tip! She is beautiful by the way Alfie! Take care of her well!

So cute!! I'm so happy for the both of you. I am by no means an expert and I don't know if I'm explaining it right but this is something I was told by a trainer when I got my dog (9 years ago) and that is to lower your voice a little (or at least keep it at a natural level/pitch) when you're trying to get the dog to do something or teaching them to come over to you etc. I noticed Zoe's voice was quite high pitched every time she called Nala over which may get the dog's attention but it only teaches excitement rather than commands. This is definitely not a criticism or judgement because I know I'm still guilty of doing the same thing a lot of the time! Just trying to help because they both seem so committed to having the best life possible with Nala and getting her trained asap :) (also I understand that this is their first day with Nala so of course Zoe was excited and wasn't too concerned with training her immediately aaand we only saw a snippet of their day)

And another bit of advice from a dog owner to another, try puppy pads to teach her where to pee THEN go onto going outside e.g. by the backdoor so she knows where to go when she wants a wee/poop and she will know how to get your attention. I can already see how happy you two are to get this puppy and I hope the best for you. Also, when calling her name, don't just say "Nala" make sure you add a command to the end of it otherwise she wont know what you want her to do. I totally agree with the pitch thing, it's a brill idea for training her :-) Hope you three bond well!

laramenke Actually babyvoices with dogs are recommend because they have the sensibilty of a baby and understand better and get more excited with that kind of voice. Professionnals always say that, it's only when you reprimand them that you not supposed to use this voice.
