I miss how the old PS1 Namco Museum games were, how they had virtual museums you could explore, filled with memorabilia, trivia, and rooms based on the games. It felt like it was more than just a game compilation, and that more passion was put into it. Even without virtual museums, some other Namco Museums at least have artwork and trivia you could view. This new one just feels bare-bones in comparison.

What's sad is past NM titles had more games than this. The gamecube/PS2 compilation had the 90's arrangement games for christ sake. We've bought Pac-Man 1 so many times, Why should we do it again?

Nm is on sale for 9.89 right now! After watching this video I'm even more pumped to get it. I've heard of a good portion of these games and I can't tell you how excited I am to play them again and experience the ones I haven't played before. I'm so incredibly excited to play dig-dug again! I hate that the Pac-Man Vs is always being called an exclusive game for the Switch.... It was also on the DS.... This wasn't the first time the game has been out since the Gamecube version.

Those menus are really nice & it has Splatterhouse. My Namco Museum for PS2 doesn't have that, but it's still great. And I just like that these titles are kept alive. Dig Dug forever! 😀

Really love the videos and the time you put in. One of the most underappreciated channels out here. I'm tempted but I already have some of these games on steam ( pacman,dig dug and galaga. ) But Galaga 88 was a fave of mine and it would be cool to play Splatterhouse again.If it was on physical media I'd buy for sure.

So glad you made this video. I saw the topic, thought 'Wait! It's out, already?' and was preparing to dash out the door. Then...'digital download, only' was about the first thing I took from your video. That just sucks. I like physical. Especially in an era when games eat up the storage space. So I bit the bullet and figured out why my Switch was treating the 64 Gig SD card like a 64 Meg, formatted, re-downloaded what I had already bought and gone for this awaited package. I regret nothing. This package is awesome. Now if I only had a Switch joystick option. But, I will be buying a photo stand to prop up the Switch system for that sweet vertical screen mode with. (Figure a dollar store has got to have those.) I also wanted to mention that vertical screen home gaming has appeared in the past. Been awhile, though. Way back in the PlayStation X/1 era, Namco released 5 discs, simply named N, A, M, C & O that brought a ton of classic arcades home. Many of those also emulated this mode. Alas...turning your tube TV on it's side was a very 'at your own risk' move.

With how many times over most of these games have been released I'd say a physical copy should be no more then $20 - $25 max, and that's pushing it. You might as well just get a used copy of Namco Museum for the DS, or Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions on the 3DS.

+Ray Commend I can totally understand that, as when it comes to my Nintendo consoles, and handhelds I generally want physical copies of my games knowing how Nintendo has handled digital content over the years if say your system burns out (had an OG Wii die because of a faulty surge strip, and Nintendo CS said sorry you are gonna have to get a new Wii, and buy the digital games all over again with a new account) but when it comes to my PC via STEAM , GOG, and Humble Bundle or my Android Smartphones I don't mind it as much, as I know I can redownload my games, and apps as many times as needed with little hassle, and have done so many times over the years.

My favorite thing about the old Namco Museum games is how they were literally a museum.i loved seeing the old cabinets and artwork. Learning about these things when i was 6 or 7. It was an amazing time.

Robert Hornibrook That'd be cool & I remember playing Star Ocean: Til the End of Time on PS2, but despite developers wanting their games to be Japanese exclusive, JRPGs aren't really appreciated in the west. Persona 5 is just now reaching 1.8 million worldwide sales despite having been out for months (I know it was released in 2016 but I'm talking about the US here), and it's an awesome game. I know people have different tastes. It RPGS aren't so beloved in the states. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Secret of mana did come out, it's just call secret of mana. It's the second game. I think what you mean is part 1 and 3. Part 1 came out over here as Final Fantasy adventure. Then was rerelease with updated graphics, with correct title on the GBA. Only part 3 never came out in the west. Star Ocean 1 was ported to the PSP in the west.

Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and Seiken Densetsu 3 are all part of a collection on Switch in Japan. Would be nice if that was localized.

Is there an option for black screen border or is it just the art borders or grey border? I'd like there to be nothing distracting on the border, only the game max sized and then black on the borders that would be least distracting from the action itself.

Back in the day, there were at least five separate volumes of Namco Museum released for the PSX. (As the first PlayStation was known back then. Nobody called it the PS1 until after the PS2 had been released.) I would have liked to see a compilation include all of those games, if it's going to be $30. $10 in the recent eShop sale seems like a much more reasonable price.

Rgt 85, I love this classic Namco Museum on my Switch. But they are missing about 10 games, the Switch could easily emulate 20 Classic Arcade Games. The games their missing are Pacmania, Mappy, Xevious, Bosconian, Starblade, Ms. Pac-Man, Rally X, Pole Position 2, Assault, and if possible Ridge Racer. Then this would have really been a must by, of course this does rule though, I do hope they make a Namco Museum 2 for Nintendo Switch.

A new namco museum with all new games would be worth it. But I like how they gave the option to play in portrait mode. My TV swivels so its not hard for me to put in portrait mode. And I don't come here for ps4 stuff I don't have a clue who the ps4 is for really. We need some more blaster master zero, and gun volt graphic games.

I liked the ps version where theres arcade machines everywhere and you can go up to them and start playing. $30 is kind of steep I don't play pacman but rolling thunder 1 and 2 interest me and thats about it.

I bought this game. I like it alot. I think the 30 bucks is a bit pricey for a min physical game. I enjoy retro especially arcade retro(on the go). It is worth it for me. My BIGGEST complaint about this game is "Pac-man Vs." Why can't you play this game online with other switch owners?? To me this was the biggest ball drop of this game. Besides not being a physical game.

But i'm just shocked by how it's impossible to use the screen rotation feature in handheld mode, or in tabletop mode unless you find something to prop the console on... That would be so simple to remap the controller setting according to the orientation of the screen for the joycons that are attached to the console...

I really wish Namco Museum would actually bring back the Museum portion of the games. What do I mean? Well, the original Namco Museum was five games for the PlayStation (labeled volumes N, A, M, C, and O); each of these games had a handful of arcade games which you could play, but it also included a literal virtual museum with an exhibit dedicated to each game. This included stuff about how the game was made, various memorabilia that was sold, official art, allowed you to toggle the various switches like an actual arcade machine (and if you didn't want to deal with learning how to do that, it also included a simple options menu). This set it apart from other simple arcade compilations and was the entire reason it was called Namco MUSEUM to begin with. Also, 30 USD for a digital-only title? That's highway robbery.

For Splatterhouse alone it's worth it. But you've also got Galaga 88, Rolling Thunder 1&2, Battle City, and a bunch of iconic games. Yes it's worth it. But yeah no physical release is bullshit

The Genesis collection and the SNK 40th anniversary compilations put to shame this Namco collection. Tower Of Druaga overstayed his welcome since 1996. They could have put at least the Genesis sequels of Splatterhouse, Rolling Thunder 3 and Dig Dug 2 too. AT LEAST.

You do not NEED 2 switches to play pacman vs. You can play 3 players on one switch with a computer controlling pacman. Having another switch just allows a 4th player to control pacman playing a classic version of pacman on there individual switch while being able to see the ghost players (think mario run from nintendoland) just wanted to correct that bit misinformation

I have enough ways to play galaga (gba/ds, dreamcast, gamecube/wii, n64) but i bought namco museum (again) for the switch cause it is nice to be able to play it on the main system i play on my tv and anywhere else. the online leaderboards are awesome too! i have barely even played the other games, so I am looking forward to that. I think personally this was a good investment

Pisses me off how a game called Toy pop is the only game that has only been in one namco collection!! I think it really should have made it to the latest namco museum in switch along with baraduke and other games I had in mind like dragon saber, gee bee, and hopping mappy for sure!!. But considering that toy pop was actually in the vary first namco museum, it deserves to have a lot more attention because the game is legit! It should be in more namco museums. And if I were to really push it I would like a namco museum with every single namco arcade game that made it to namco museum.

@@JackTheGamer3 Right on. I'm extremely disappointed in this Namco Museum compilation. They keep forgetting the Arrangement version's existence, along with Toy Pop. They didn't even include my favorite game Mappy here. This is sad. Namco should step up in the next Arcade ROMS Namco Museum compilation. At-least the Namco Museum Archives(NES ROMS) is better though in my opinion. It includes more games that never appeared on a Namco Museum compilation before like Mappy-Land and Famicom exclusive Splatterhouse anime game. And Mappy and Gaplus are finally re-released in Namco Museum Archives. They're Famicom versions instead of real Arcade ROMs, but they're still really great versions in my opinion.

It only had 3 games I actually liked. Pacman, Galaga, and Dig Dug. If it had Mappy (My favorite arcade game) I wouldn't DEFINITELY bought it. But it didn't so I just skipped it. I can buy a Plugnplay for less money.

I honestly couldn't care less about getting a digital only game. I honestly only get physical copies of games anymore if either A. The game takes up too much space or B I can find a physical copy cheaper. Though when I get a Switch I'm going to wait until this goes on sale given the lack of content. Imagine if they make Pac-Man Museum 2 for all the other Pac-Man titles & still charge extra for Ms Pac-Man.

Likes: the TATE mode is very welcome at last. I don't recall many collections featuring this. I guess the Switch is a perfect candidate for this given that it's portable. Dislikes:1) The price! For $30, I would expect that to be the physical release price. As a digital only title I would expect this to be no more than $20.2) yet another collection without the E Normas sleet underrated yet challenging Pac-Man Jr. I'm not sure if Midway somehow had a stranglehold on that, but like Ms. Pac-Man, I'm not sure why Namco never ended up with the rights to it, if that's the case. Other: Dude! Rolling Thunder was a Tengen release on NES. What kind of NES gamer are you? 😛 if I'm not mistaken, several Namco arcade games from the mid to late 80s were distributed by Atari here in the US. I know that Gallaga '88 was, and I think Rolling Thunder was too.

Its not petty, I prefer physical games myself. Especially when they cross certain price thresholds. At $30, I cant see myself buying digital for games that are available and I likely own in some form elsewhere.

I'm still hoping that Nintendo Wii release and grip that fits round the Switch so when it's in portrait mode you can put the JoyCons either side. This would make it perfect forn3lDS and 3DS Virtual console.

I love Splatter House, Pac Man is a legend, Rolling Thunder 1&2 look great, but as for the rest, I'd probably play them a little, but nowhere near as much, I'll probably wait for a price drop, but I'll get it eventually.
