If I'm not mistake, Kagekiyo says something at the end of his Multiple Assault with Mitsurugi and Tarosuke, maybe "風の前の塵と等しく" which I think means, "As dust before the wind..." That's a perfect sentiment for the ephemerality of life. Very on brand for a Heike warrior from the Heian period.

+Andrew Lazin Agreed. Especially the ones that are solo or two man cell multi assaults i.e. Reiji+Xiaomu's. It looks cool but it's pathetically weak. I right now have them at a high level but still they can't even finish off even the weakest full hp lackies/mobs in one assault. Whereas compared to Kosmos +Shion/momo assault usually annihilates the very weak mobs of each stage, even at full hp. And they clearly gain more power for the MA every time they level up. So if I had to guess, the multiple assaults relies on stats of everyone involved. And sadly since Reiji+Xiaomu's unit is counted as 1 character, their MA is very weak. Whereas like MA for Ken and Ryu are much stronger. Of course, I'm guessing they had to also balance with the characters other abilities as well as the nature of the MA, like they can't make the multiple targeting MAs too strong otherwise they can wipe out everything. But yeah, it looks like a lot of these things they were just trying out new things and didn't get it right since it was in a way the "Beta" of the PxZ series. Hopefully, they improved a lot of things in PxZ.

PedoBearNomsLoli as someone who did play PXZ there are somethings they did fix and others they didn’t. In my opinion the damage on supers are something they didn’t fix. Multi-attacks become nearly worthless in PXZ very early on unless you happen to get units at low enough health. Normal super also start becoming less effective in at least the second half of the game. It gets to a point where there are elite MOOKS that can tank TWO normal supers and bosses that can tank at least THREE supers. At least PXZ2 fixed this issue.

@@PedoBearNomsLoliMAs do fixed damage but are more meant to kill multiple enemies at once. Like if three enemies have really low health, you could take them out with Reiji&Xiaomu in one turn leaving your other units to focus on other enemies.

@@TheMysticDX Sure I can understand that they are not supposed to surpass single target damage skills/spells, but at least, give more options. It sucks that only certain tag teams/chars can do/participate in MAs. And they don't offer any other options for MAs. I've seen basic RPGs with better offerings than that. Because that would make their MA only viable in very niche situations where you have enemies that are low enough to be taken out. Even though I had used cheats and made them max level and a high damage modifier items, they still did pretty jack shit damage. It's like this game wanted you to just take down the tons of fodders they shove down your throat one by one. As if this game wasn't boringly arduous enough as it is.... In the end, I just deleted this game. The translations were pretty shoddy for a fan translations. And the story was honestly meh. And the gameplay left much to be desired. Eventually, I'll get around to playing PXZ. Hopefully, that will be a lot better.

I am playing through this game now in English. The game is great and has really long battles and takes many hours to complete. I am not even close to 1/3 of the way through and am guessing the game is well over 100+ hours to complete. My only complaints are that there was no proper western release and the emulation is not 100÷ but I really love being able to play it in HD on a huge screen and with english translation! Awesome game!

If they do make a new game, they should reboot the franchise, ditch the Endless Frontier battle system, and go back to a more flexible and maybe more customizable battle system, similar to how Namco x Capcom is, and Tales of Destiny 2: Director's Cut. Where you can have multiple units fighting at once, a little similar to Cross Edge, but not too much. Also at minimum, we'll probably get SNK guest characters since SNK has been doing more crossovers nowadays. Also this is probably some stupid made up rule that ppl on GameFAQs invented, but if it is real, they should ditch the "No grapplers, No anthropomorphic characters". You're right, the game felt way to anime-ish. I really think the battle system was way too combo heavy and way too animated. The game after a while felt too predictable and basic. Didn't feel like any love was put into it. Just one and done combos. It left no room for creativity. The battle system in Namco x Capcom works just fine, just tweak it a little bit. Also make solo units their own separate unit like in Namco x Capcom. Not like the striker assist character thing with stories. It was soo dumb
