I loved watching this show at home with my family back in the day.

My family had those fancy console TV sets with 26" screen during the 1970s.They had to be turned by hand when changing channels, as they lacked the ability to be used by remotes. Most remotes back then looked like those electronic garage door openers. Some consoles used remotes.Remember the consoles that the topside lifted up and a stereo was inside? All my family, and most others, had in those days was 3 channels...ABC, NBC, and CBS, and a roof antenna. Some of those consoles could be had in B/W.My parents had their last color console TV from 1979-1992, and with the big TV cable box having a channel knob, you still had to get up and turn that knob to change channels.Young people say "you had to leave your chair each time you changed channels?!" Yep! LOL.I liked that game show, but as much as I had heard old songs all my life, that game would be tricky. Some of the music they play doesn't sound like the song it is.

So funny seeing those old tvs... but they were great back then for the time. And if your family had the 25" color console... you were living good!! XD

There was a voiceover at 14:25 where they give them a promo for the "4:30 Movie" where they introduced to "Elvis Week" where they showed 5 movies with Elvis Presley. I have all of the movies, and of course a promo for what's coming next was a short-lived TV series "Makin' It". The show "Makin' It" ran for one season in 1979, and even had a big hit by David Naughton, but I still have the 45 of that theme song.

A grand show from the groovy '70s. I appreciate the good sportsmanship shown by Mr. Soro to Miss Peterson upon losing the game. Mr. Kennedy passed away in 2020 at age 93.

The spaghetti commercial is very believable. LOL If you didn't know the truth.

2:40 Wow, Ernie Anastos has been doing news in NYC since '79? He certainly had the hair for the time! FYI, he's now with WNYW, Fox 5. And for that note, I'm surprised the "7" emblem for WABC hasn't changed since then!

Sadly, only the Jim Lange version (1984-1985) have been saved.

I don't think this episode is on the internet game show trading circuit either. Nice upload. Rare one too, as this version of Tune has never been rerun. The 1984-85 daily syndicated version with Jim Lange ran in reruns for about six of the ten years after its cancellation.

This was a popular show in its day. There's been talk of reviving the format a few times in recent years.

If a revival of "Name That Tune" ever takes place, a more recent version will probably have its first female host. It could possibly be aired on FOX, CW, or on syndication. The music library will be updated with more recent music. In fact, I will want to be on that show. I can't be a DJ or a musician in order to be a "Name That Tune" contestant.

Disco days.. back when pop music required TALENT. Yes, it was all run-of-the-mill, as it is today, but it needed gifted musicians in order to work. Today you can have absolutely no talent and become famous so long as you know a good plastic surgeon and have a decent computer. It's sad.
