Very helpful! Now I just need to be able to distinguish my horse's footfall. I can tell his walk and flat walk, but not sure if he's saddle racking or foxtroting. Definitely not a trot. His head doesn't shake but it looks like a diagonal gait. When I ride him he can be smooth or a little bouncy.

Yes it can be hard and some horses get In between the two gaits. You can email me a short clip and I can tell you which gait if you need help. I also give online lessons if you need more help then just identification. Themajesticrider@yahoo.com

I love when they all are watching. At one boarding stable they would all come out of their stalls and watch what I was doing with the new horses it was pretty funny.

Is pace an undesirable gait? This what I was taught, except the flying pace. I can't stand watching riders who have gaited horses, know nothing about gaiting, & let their horses pace all the time. Am I wrong?

Yes, it is not good for the horse's body when undersaddle and is also uncomfortable to ride. It can also make them more trippy. So I agree, it's not a good gait to ride.
