I don’t know in any other countries, but in Japan, Fodera high-C five string 33 inch (Matt Garrison model) costs about 15,000 USD so comparing to that one, this is cheaper...

What a beautifully made. Wonderful tone as well. Wish someday I can buy this bass. All the best, Janek.

High end bass, can be super expensive, that's true! High quality components, high quality wood, chambered ,crafted, sanded,tailored by great luthier...all this things matter and rise the prices!! All of us who say that is an expensive bass, never had the opportunity to play or check this instrument live-in the hands, playing,smells or even touch this bass!!!! So I think this only bla bla bla blaaaa!! If I had that money I didn't buy that bass, but Janek is happy with it and I'm happy for him!!

At this point in my life I can only say: If I want to own this bass I gotta work my ass off, do a second degree maybe, buy some stock and whatnot but the thing is that I will never be able to practice in order to become good enough so that you can actually hear it.

Very nice bass. I wish he could have done it a little more affordable, like Marcos Miller did with Sire bass, which is a very good bass as well. Maybe $1500

When will the cnc version be available? Price?
@wolfwarren63765 жыл бұрын
$5900 for the CNC. Still made in Sweden. Still a tad high in my opinion, but certainly better than the 15k it was to buy his Fodera signature model.

And he calls $7900 affordable?. I don't care if his basses were $15000 and now they are alot cheaper. In no way shape or form is $7900 affordable for a bass. My car is still cheaper than that.

Did you miss the part where I said everyone's idea of affordable is different? It's quite simple. It is impossible to please every cross-section of a consumer base with one instrument at two price points. Anyone who thinks that is what we're trying to do is very much mistaken. This is a world-class 100% hand built bass (at the higher price point) with a limited run of only 20 instruments, and then for the production instruments, still not farmed out to a low quality factory in Asia but all built in Sweden, the price drops by $2,000, getting it to way less than 1/2 of the price of my previous signature instrument. I totally understand that $7,900 is not a small amount of money for anyone. Me included. And at the same time we know these instruments are not for everyone, that the price range isn't for everyone, and that's totally okay. We're not trying to please the world, just a few serious musicians who are committed to what they do and understand the value of investing in their future. There were many of them at the show, and we are almost sold out of the master-built instruments.The 5-string and 4-string double cut signatures that are coming later this year will range from as high as the $5k (master built) mark to as low as the sub $2k range (standard). I would say that's a pretty solid range for such a high quality instrument. How about taking the view that it might not be for you, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's shit. With that, we can start a conversation, give things context, and have positive dialogue. But "Yep, it's shit" does nothing for anyone.

$7,900 is a righteous price but when compared to a '59 Les Paul Tom Murphy aged reissue, a PRS Private Stock, or a list of other high end instruments, less than $10K is in line. Mind you, I can't afford one but for the person who's playing all the time and needs something like this, it's cool. I thought this bass really had a melodic tone, sort of reminiscent of the Jaco tone!

@@simontoth9101 One, yer an ass, two... if I had money, I would buy it because it sounds pretty damn good, considering that my current five string is a Ibanez SR305. Also you just got roasted really, REALLY hard.

Eventually making bass is not more diffrent or harder than electric guitar. Ok, bass needs more wood and needs more finish and maybe needs boaster and some other expensive electronic parts but it doesn't make it 2 times moe expensive than a highend guitar! when you can buy a high-end electric guitar 4000 A bass with similar quality must be under 5000.

It’s a beautiful bass but if I shelled out $7,900, which is considerably some serious coin for a working musician. I’d rather have a bass built entirely to my personal specs. No offense Janek...😎

+ Great sounding. - Still extremelly expensive (Janek, your "everyone's idea of affordable is different" doesn't make any sense when talking about an 8k USD bass. That is not an "expensive professional bass", that is a collector's item for people that want to be like you). - The look is far from pleasing. I don't play SC basses, but some look cool. This one doesn't. This is from a buyer's perspective.. if it is "only" your custom bass, then enjoy it, it sounds spot on!

I got to say, it's more affordable that 15K$ for sure, but still far to be "affordable" for an average person. Only true enthusiast, rich people, will be able to buy this kind of instrument. That being said, I would argue that for half the price, you can get a Marleaux or a Mayones that will most likely be equal in quality and performance.
