Robbie my sincere compliments on your excellent playing. You mentioned that this one was your "favourite" - would you care to elaborate a little ? I'm most curious how this new wonderful "beast" compares to, say, Yamaha's own CF line : ) Like would this 7'6" S7X fare well beside the CF6 7foot piano - or is it a noticeably different touch and sound?

Hi David~ thank you for the kind words. You know, it really is all subjective. Sitting down at all of these amazing pianos in a row enabled me to feel subtleties and be more aware of differences in actions from piano to piano. That being said, this piano virtually disappeared under my fingers, enabling the truest version of my voice to come out. Crisp sound with plenty of body, a transparency without thinness, and a fluid action that responded to any level touch~ dynamite piano! It was a joy to play~ so many others were fabulous too but this one I wanted to take home and put in my living room :) Hope that answered your question! RG

Hi Robbie - thanks for your very nice reply. In your second sentence you might have meant to say " . . . it is all SUBjective" right? I was asking about this S7X because it holds so much promise in terms of build and action and appearance . . . and it was great to have input from an expert player like yourself to confirm my premonitions. Many thanks!

You are correct! Definitely great pianos coming out of Yamaha these past years~ consistent and I'm really digging the playability. With all that in mind, they most likely had great technicians voicing them, which can make a big difference. I had played some pianos that were great but not voiced well at NAMM~ also if the rooms are too loud it can be tough to hear yourself. There were a few great Yamaha's in the big room but it was too loud. Also worth hearing/playing are those new Ravenscroft pianos. Really crisp and fluid action!

Thanks again Robbie . . . yeah those Ravenscroft pianos - certainly something to rave about I hear but . . . oh just about 3 X the price of a beautiful S7X !!
