I love this beautiful song from 1976! I was born in 1978 in the United States. I took Spanish all though high school and college! In Spanish class we always sang this song in Spanish titled Eres Tu! The English lyrics don't exactly match the true meaning of the song! The beautiful melody is the same! Then when sung in English the song is much shorter! The beautiful person Nana Mouskouri with her beautiful voice, also a very talented entertainer and performer does a fantastic job as does the backup singers and musicians! I have always loved Nana Mouskouri! I still have to sing this song in Spanish, or it throws me off! That helped me learn Spanish! Thank you for posting and sharing this classic performance!

Those Kings Singers were absolutely fantastic with Nana. Any song, any style........ Once read in a book on the Kings Singers(that group) they loved every minute in studio with her and often she would take them out to dinner just as a thank you from herself......

I always thought this accompanying music group was called The Athenians? I could be wrong.
@G6JPG10 ай бұрын
@@TheLunarLumen The Athenians (including George Petsilas, who Nana eventually married and is I think Lenou's father) are instrument players, who sing a little, and Nana worked with them for many years. (Though I don't think the instrumentalists here are them.) The Kings' Singers (the apostrophe is correctly placed - they're named after the Cambridge college) are a well-known a capella group, with whom Nana occasionally worked in the 1970s (they did this song here in 1976, and also in 1974). I'd particularly recommend Nana and their Eriskay, totally unaccompanied: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIWweKape9pgh9E, and also their Three Bells.

@@TheLunarLumen You're welcome. (I've since checked, and I'm not sure she _did_ do The Three Bells with them - one posting claims it is, but another of the same track doesn't mention them. But their Eriskay - above - is lovely.)

In fact, the original english version was also sung by Mocedades for the first time. They recorded the song in spanish ("Eres tu"), english ("Touch the wind"), french ("C'est pour toi"), italian ("Viva noi"), german ("Das bist du") and basque ("Zu zara").

Ive loved her music since I first heard her do "Even Now". I love hearing her do the English version of this song, but it would be even more wonderful to hear her do the Spanish version too.

The tune keeps reminding me of "I can't help falling in love with you" (Elvis and many others). _Later_ : it's only about two bars - of the chorus of this, and the verse of "I can't help", but it is very similar - others agree. I don't think it was deliberate. (This tune - though the words are completely different - was a Spanish Eurovision entry by Mocedades [who also created these English words].)

A lovely version of the original by Mocedades who also did an English version which was on the B side of the single. Nana has a voice that angles would envy.

I know it's me, and don't get me wrong, I really do like Ms. Mouskouri, but, every time I see her, I can't help but picture Benny Hill in his 'Nana Mouskoui' drag. I mean this with utmost respect for Ms. Mouskouri, and how much I loved -and laughed - at Benmy Hill (R.I.P.).
@G6JPG10 ай бұрын
I think Benny Hill said "Moussaka" (that being one of the few other Greek words English people know). Nana wasn't always in long dresses though, as parodied by Benny and others - see for example kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ2YfGiYqsx3hs0 ! (skip in a bit.)

Did she sing this twice in her BBC series? only there seems to be two versions?
@G6JPG10 ай бұрын
Yes, 1974 and 1976, both with the Kings' Singers; I think she may have done it by herself too, though not necessarily in her series.

A biopic would have to be a series to give the story justice - she has had a _long_ career (and isn't finished yet!).

(Loses, not looses.) This English version (which was also created by Mocedades) is completely _different_ - not better or worse.
