Mil Mascaras came to my hometown of Crystal City Tx pop 8k under Southwest Championship Wrestling, he team-up with Wahoo Mcdaniels to wrestle Tully Blanchard and Black Gorman around 1981

Mine too. I loved that post-introduction “reveal” in which he’d yank off his mask, only to show a second mask under that one. And then toss the first one into the crowd. Showmanship!

Exactly buddy. They actually made you believe they were in a legitimate competitive FIGHT and actually TRYING TO WIN and you could actually suspend your disbelief. It was a true artform. These marks in the ring nowadays are absolute embarrassment.

I have see Mil Mascaras in Winston Salem North Carolina in the International Wrestling Alliance one of the Greatest of pro wrestling

I remember the IWA in the mid- to late-‘70s! (I grew up in Winston-Salem.) Johnny Powers was the booker, and Mil Mascaras was their champ. He still has that belt, I believe, since IWA got sued out of business by JCP in 1978.

Cuando luchaban en México y Japón en contra mil aún estaba en todas sus facultades y buen físico..... la diferencia es que canek fue mucho mejor que mil, mientras mil mascaras andaba en el extranjero peleando con luchadores que ni se conocían Canek recibía a lo mejor de Estados Unidos y canek, como Antonio inoki y Hulk Hogan 😏

Several of his “1000 masks” have been ripped over the years, but Mil Mascaras has never been unmasked. Although semi-retired in the ‘90s, when he‘s appeared sporadically since then, it has still never/will never be without wearing a mask.
