Nancy Brophy trial continues | Day 3 afternoon session

The trial of Nancy Brophy, romance novelist accused of killing her husband in June 2018 at the Oregon Culinary Institute, continues into Day 3. Thus far, the state has continued to call witnesses to the stand including Karen Brophy, the mother of victim Dan Brophy who is also Nancy Brophy's late husband.

And I think the glass shower door was set up for it to perhaps kill him at home in an accident. "He cut his finger when the shower door broke, plus the water leaks perhapsto make him trip and fall. I’d say he was shot in the chest first because the back shot severed his spine and spinal cord which would cause him to fall immediately. Nothing was said that a bullet entered him from above while lying on the floor. Maybe she called his name and he walked toward her from the ice bin with the scoop in his hand and when shot in the chest, the scoop flew off to the right as he spun around then fell with the back shot. Pure conjecture on my part.

I feel the defense who seems to not even know the law has hurt his client. It seems both sides went crazy hood on each other. I can't get over the fact he borrowed a gun and brought it to talk????

Pep don’t like him Why.? … Cause he don’t let the Defense lawyer get away w/ things that are NOT suppose to come in & had already been ruled on & that he the Defense lawyer would rather speak out loud & say things in front of the jury that should be taken to side bar. Barisone is Guilty has crap & was NOT insane at the time of shooting.

I found the defense attorney infuriating. She comes off as trying to be somewhat clumsy and "oh, let me see that map, oh gee..." like shes trying to be personable and relatable and a sweet older lady, but it comes off as manipulative and like she's trying to appear less than 100% competent. I bet shes just as vicious outside of court as her client.

It actually happens somewhat frequently. They are known to just basically explode. Possibly from a scratch or nick in the glass, and then a bump from just the right angle.

I bet the Judge had Nancy move from the end of the table. She was sitting on the end so she could watch audience and witness both. I heard a reporter said her stare at even him, caused him discomfort. And very intimidating. Her face when her mil was testifying was so cold and hard.

the defense does not bring evidence. the state has to prove the defendant is guilty. the defense discredits witnesses, fights to keep evidence non-admissible, objects during questioning to thwart the prosecution efforts, usually advises the defendant not take the stand, creates reasonable doubt and looks for opportunities to declare a mistrial. her defense team is really bad though. i think it would have made sense to negotiate a plea deal.

This guy, Det Merril is my hero. He and the prosecutor are the heroes in this case. Nancy is by no means a genius. But they were both professional and thorough. 💯 His compassion during her first interview was very impressive. Give him a raise. Give him a job with the FBI. I honestly thought he WAS FBI. He's so good.
