Louisiana native here and actual Investigator. I was certainly amused to see an ND game in New Orleans and for the most part they nailed it. Wish there had been more background info in the game that others have going into the history and explaining the Voodoo culture, Mardi Gras and Krewes associated with that holiday, as well as some more local NO backstory. The lack of mention of Marie Laveau was certainly surprising as was the distinct cemeteries found in the area which exist above ground as they do because of floods resulting in essentially raising the dead as it were. There was a problem with those buried being unearthed after bad weather which is why most are in above ground sarcophagi. Shrimp is also not a required ingredient in gumbo and it's a flexible recipe aside from one part, the roux. It's base is what makes gumbo distinct and requires almost a mastery in creating it correctly. Flour and oil or type of fat cooked down into a sort of gravy based cautious as to not burn it. I would suggest using chicken and andouille sausage if you eat either of those. Sandwiches known as "po-boys" are commonly found as well and are popular locally. They mainly contain seafood however like fried catfish, shrimp or oysters. The muffuletta is a different option focusing more on meats, cheeses, and lots of olives and is a sandwich cut into 1/4s intended for sharing. Cafe du Monde' is where you get beignets or a type of fried donut and chicory coffee and can be found easily in the French Quarter next to Jackson Square, the southern most part. I've always adored New Orleans and have fond memories of it being the place where I went for most larger shows and concerts of bands I liked that came through the area. When Katrina hit I was all but 2 hours from there and felt some impact but nothing compared to what those in the city endured. It was certainly heartbreaking to watch when electricity was available again.

This is just pure nostalgia for me as this was the first Nancy Drew game I played with my mom when I was a kid. I remember somehow I maganed to figure out the shelf puzzle, still one of my favorites to this day and managed to convince my mom for us to replay it having the original disk and me being 19 now

I missed both streams and couldn't even watch this video on the day it came out, but I'm finally here! :P This was always low-ish on my imaginary tier list of ND games so I don't have as much to say about it, but here are my tidbits: - It's an accepted fact among the ND community that Henry is hot as hell and deserves so much better than Summer. Many of us are willing to volunteer as tribute. - This game came out seven months before the Indiana Jones movie about crystal skulls. Weird, right? And as a personal coincidence, the guy I had a huge crush on at around the time this game came out was potentially about to move to New Orleans and his class number (we were alphabetized by last name in my elementary school classes) was 17. Maybe that's part of why I never loved this one? haha - One of the books noted in the file cabinet is "Finding Fish" by Bill Kessler. I guess he gave up Fox & Geese and wrote a book? Prudence Rutherford also has a book in there. - "Didn't someone say last game we played that Bruno was mentioned somewhere?" That was probably me, lol. And yeah, Mystico said something about a dark figure named Bruno in our future! - This game's UI is the same as White Wolf, but with slightly bigger/different font, I think. - The big statue guy in Zeke's is the "tall glass of water" from the forge room in Blackmoor Manor. - I love the idea of Lamont just watching Bess do all sorts of weird things on his shelves and somehow still being trusting enough to go do the thing she asks over there. - If you eat too many Koko Kringle bars, Nancy gets sick. The screen turns green and I think she makes an unpleasant sound or something, haha. I can't remember exactly. And Her Interactive did make real Koko Kringle bars once a long time ago! They were basically just Crunch bars. I kept the wrapper from the one I ate and laminated it so it's a bookmark now. :D I also have an uneaten one in its plastic wrapping still. It sits on my bookshelf with a bunch of the old yellow ND books. - The doll in Renee's room is one of Camille Hurley's from Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, though I forget which one that is. - Henry's mom was also apparently Dr. Preduvicu, the wood expert lady from Danger on Deception Island. Or maybe they're just relatives who posed in exactly the same way? - The gumbo stand employee person is dressed an awful lot like Shorty Thurmond, former cook of Shadow Ranch. - The skeeball game made me rage a bit when I replayed this recently. If you make each square a chicken, you get an Easter egg, but I opted to not torture myself further, haha. (Other eggs come from putting in a different pattern on Renee's box and using a different set of numbers on the clock in the hallway. You get the numbers from a little paper with the mummy in Zeke's, similar to the Time Will Tell stories in Bruno's book.) - The ending match puzzle gets a lot easier if you use your phone to take a picture while the screen is lit, hehe. Props to you for solving it the way we had to back in 2007! - There are surprisingly few ways to "die" in this game. You can get stabbed by the wasps too much, bitten by the spider if you reach in there too much, get chomped by Bernie if you poke the log after you get the conk, and you get a game over if you go out the emergency exit while Lamont is in sneeze mode. I think that's all. I don't actually know if you can suffocate in the underground chamber or let [culprit] escape. As far as game endings go, this is one of the easiest. Also, I am absolutely going to try the "restructure your thoughts" positive what-if thing! What a neat idea!

I didn’t have the capability to invest my energy into games like these as a child because I didn’t want to think hard about anything. I spent the bulk of my time in books or cartoons but now as an adult I am indulging a lot in gabs series with Nancy Drew games And it makes me feel like a child again. Even though this isn’t some thing I did as a kid, I still feel nostalgic because it is from that time and the games are just so relaxing. I thought the voice acting was so stupid as a kid but now I kind of like it and sometimes I even laugh at how terrible it can be at times. The mysteries are pretty good and the characters are not that bad either, I regret not getting into this as a kid but luckily as an adult I can do whatever I want now. It’s never too late to indulge in something new I just wish I had found it sooner because of the comfort and laughter it brings me. Thank you so much for playing these games and sharing it with us. I’m really terrible puzzles and I often don’t finish games because I get distracted so I really appreciate KZbinrs who take me along the journey without me having to invest so much energy into it.

I love this game. It has a great creepy atmosphere and I adore the punny cemetery puzzle! I like that it mixes New Orleans aesthetics with a more unexpected, slightly goofy mystery (a "magic" crystal skull owned by an eccentric dentist). I'm so happy to have finally seen Gab play it!

Can you imagine playing this with friends oved a weekend back when you were like 12 or 13 and you have been going over the riddle of the grave stones for over 40 minutes and one of you starts listing off the names in book and they finally get to constance norring and youre like "wait, what did you just say?" And it clicks and youre all screaming at how hard and stupid the riddle was but you just feel so smart for figuring it out. I imagine thats the 13 year olds equivalent to doing molly
