What a remarkable career House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi has charted. I am always amazed by her energy and enthusiasm for her role in government even after 37 years of service. Although she has stepped aside to usher in a new generation of leadership, her mentorship continues, and I think she will always be a force for fairness, decency and devotion to the Constitution and all that it affords its citizens. I look forward to reading her new book and somewhere in the future reading her complete memoir.

Katie this is an excellent interview. I’ve been watching you since you went from reporter to Today and they were calling you Kathryn, I think. I loved the way you seemed like you had been there forever within a short time. I was watching the morning of 9/11/2001 so of course that is seared in my memory. I love your.current format as you can do whatever you want at a pace that is right. On network TV the time limits are so extreme. There is one thing I remember that occurred when you were on maternity leave. I would love to know what really happened. Elizabeth Vargas had been filling in for you for your entire maternity leave. Something happened with the Clintons that was big news (probably some allegation from the “vast right wing conspiracy.” Anyway, Hillary made a special appearance for a long, thorough interview. That day, Maria Shriver (I love her too) appeared in order to conduct the interview with Hillary Clinton. Elizabeth Vargas vanished from NBC and there was never one word about what actually happened. I presumed Elizabeth Vargas thought since she had been doing the job for a while and fairly well, she should have been the one to interview Hillary. Maybe Hillary requested Maria conduct the interview. I surmised that Elizabeth Vargas was so upset that she quit. Anyway I’ve always wondered exactly what happened. You realize that when we watch people every morning for years, we feel we know them. I never heard any gossip or an inkling of a clue what really happened. Could it be that I am the only person to notice this? I have high functioning autism.

Katie, your team needs to take better care with your post audio production. This, I presume is an onsite interview in Madame Speaker Pelosi's home. Other things are clearly happening in her home, perhaps laundry, whatever. A simple 120 Hz High Pass Filter could have been applied to the audio here in post production to completely minimize all of that low rumble that is happening in the background. If you are doing this production alone, get your arm around the tech, but I do not believe that for a second. I know you have a small skeleton crew around you who should just know better. I hope this shaming message will get them on their A Game. You have too much important reporting at hand to let sophomore crap like this diminish the presentations. Good night and good luck.
