I don't believe there's anyone else out there showing the proper use of the miter jig. So that's awesome to see.

Great technique. The only thing I would change is joining the two sizes of basil wire while they are still a flat sheet then making your bends and failing to size. You can actually make this up larger quantity if you do a lot of basil setting then you can bend and cut to whatever size or shape you need.

Really cool Nancy, thank you and love the miter jig trick! And, btw I bought some "sharpees" one time and my husband thought it was hilarious that I didn't realize they were knock-offs actually labeled sharpeis!! :D

Great to see another video Nancy. Love the way you teach. One thing that occurs to me(yes I’m weird like this) is what level of pointiness denotes the change from an oval stone to a marquise?
@NancyHamiltonJewelry
@NancyHamiltonJewelry 2 жыл бұрын
Haha! Interesting question. Ovals can be tough - especially with thick material. I would skip the beveling part as that will create a point. With the oval, you should be able to just file the ends flat, after shaping and solder together. I don't know for sure as I haven't tried the two-sided setting for an oval yet! But, now, I need to make a video on it! Thanks for the idea and the kind words.
