I was thinking that too. I kept waiting for nandor to just run out at any point (while Guillermo was packing or taking nadia and Lazio to the docks) because he totally could have. But he didn't. He stayed and waited as long as he could. And I honestly suspect the only reason he didn't wait is because he is pretty helpless on his own. There were no backup plans. So all he knew to do was to get on the train.

I don't think it was something he planned the whole time, but he definitely understood something about him through the fight, which is that he was looking for a life companion the whole season and he already has one, and someone who can kind of revitalize that warrior spirit in him as well. that's why he promises to turn him and clearly was waiting for him, even offered to take his bag for him.

I was getting a little worried when I heard that Simms said (in an interview I think, but I can't be sure) that Nandor would "find love" next season. That made me think he would meet someone new on his trip that would pull him further away from Guillermo and ultimately end up breaking his heart again, but now, I think you're right. Nandor "finding love" will be him finally consciously acknowledging that he loves Guillermo (ironically, while on his journey where he will be, physically, the farthest away he has ever been from Guillermo), and both of them will reunite with slightly different perspectives of the other that will (hopefully) lead to a healthy, stable romantic relationship. The showrunners/writers might drag out this particular story thread a little more and make us wait longer for them to officially become a couple, but who knows? It's a good possibility for season 4 too.

Nandor probably started off his speech spontaneously out of fear, but realized partway through that Guillermo really has proven himself a worthy soldier, protector, and companion not only in this particular scuffle but in his constant strength and wit that he has demonstrated since season 2.
