As a response to both opinions you discuss at 8:39, we chose Nanit for several reasons but more than any other reason because my husband *could* login to check in our child while he travelled substantially for work in her first 12 months of life. He felt he didn’t miss out as much because he knew when she was napping, how she was sleeping overnight etc.

Purchased a Nanit Pro a week ago in preparation for our first baby coming next week. This channel and Fathercraft pushed me to get a Nanit over Cubo and, without actually using it with our baby yet, I’m extremely impressed and excited to use it to learn more about our baby boy. The feature that sealed the deal for me was being able to have the audio play while my phone is locked. I had a sibling that died from SIDS so it’s something I’m very conscious of which justifies the price for me Thanks for all the great info!

@@___rockstar___ 100%. Many of our friends chose different baby cams for their little ones and they all have issues with them. With the nannit, I have zero complaints whatsoever. The audio will continue to play even when my phone is locked which is great. With their subscription we were able to give access to our family members as well. Our parents and grand parents love being able to see him sleep or play in his bedroom whenever they like

One of my my gripes is that I wish the arm was able to extend over the crib a little bit more. Since we have a large headboard on our crib, the camera grabs focus on the top of the headboard at night. Or a touch to focus would be nice. Or maybe manual focus option with focus peaking so I know it's tac sharp!

We just purchased our second Nanit Plus when they went on sale as the Pro was released. We love the Nanit with our daughter, now 15 months, and will be using the second one with our son when he arrives in a few weeks. We use a dedicated Kindle Fire as the monitor screen, re-upped Insights after a year (because we love the time tracking for awakes and sleeps), and take it with us anytime we travel. Definitely recommend! However, we can't quite get into all the upgrade accessories for breathing and height...it's just too gimmicky and we are satisfied with just monitoring sleep.

We returned our Nanit Pro. didn't feel it was worth the price. The owlet sock was more versitle than the sleepwear and the owlet cam is adequate for our needs. Additionally on rural DSL, Nanit seemed to constantly be using bandwidth which impacted our other uses of our internet. (30/1.5 mbps)

Experts recommend that infants sleep in their parents' room without bed-sharing until their first birthday. If parents prefer to move the baby to another bedroom, it's best to wait until the child is at least 6 months old. At this very moment, I'd say to just stick with the Plus. If you already have it and it's working great, no need to spend extra. The only thing to watch out for is new firmware rollouts as they may run fine on Pros but cause potential issues for the Plus. Otherwise, stick with what you have.

The Plus is actually going to be phased out altogether and the Pro will be the main option for parents moving forward. Key differences for this and the Plus are: upgraded camera body and internal Ambarella chipset, reduced infrared lights, faster processing, more storage, improved speaker and the jump to 1080p quality.

Great review, but $300 *and* a $100 something subscription? Eh... feels too "gotcha". I'd love to see a review of baby monitors that don't require a sub! I get the subscription if 1080p videos are saved (that's server $$); but as a dev, it costs near-nothing to the dev to save analytics data in the cloud - even for 10000's of users. EDIT: There are actually 0 videos that review baby monitor's that exclusively have no subscription fees - you'd be the 1st!

We went with the Owlette because we wanted the detailed tracking. It worked great for about the first 3/4 year. But after the first year it started glitching out way more often, we had to get a new usb cable sent to us (the thermostat and sound receiver are both in the cable and not the camera) and overall has just left us wishing we had went with the nanit instead. This isn't the first time I heard that and it's frustrated a quite a few users. Did that firmware rollout affect a Plus model for you?
@thomashoward4727

@@dadverb yes, I believe it was the update where they added the growth tracking. It's frustrating because it stops working in the middle of the night, and when I call tech support they wanted me to reset the camera. Since the camera is directly above my daughter's crib I can't press the button on the camera to reset it without waking her up. I can't really even hit the reset button without taking the camera down off the wall mount and using a paperclip. In nanit's defense, the camera worked great with little to no connection issues for the first 5 months we had it.

I just bought the Nanit Pro and my night vision is terrible. It is very blur. I don’t know what to do anymore 😔

Just as a review for anyone who is considering this camera. It works well until it doesn’t. At the 6 months mark, the camera connection quality reduces significantly. Can’t connect up to 1hr at time, extremely annoying when it happens at night!

Where is the data that is being collected about your child being sent? If Nanit monitors your child’s habits, who exactly has access to that data?

I just troubleshot my friends internet. He was having latency spikes every 90 and 95 seconds, turns out - the Wi-Fi module that this brand uses is made in a Chinese province and is transmitting data intermittently to China. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

He jumps from its made in China to its transmitting data to China. I'm asking how does he make that conclusion. My TV, laptop, smartphone, many things are all made in china...are they then transmitting data to china? Prove it? Just questions...from someone who deleted TikTok because the answer was YES!

Oh yes, I'm pretty sure the chinese government is highly interested on watching my baby sleep, vomit and cry all night. I think they are closer to dominate the world with that data! 😱🙄😅

It's a stretch for many parents. Here's an alternate setup for about $75: Wyze $30 (for wifi camera) - amzn.to/3dKkM3O VTech $16 (for audio monitoring) - amzn.to/3vcMXOK Nightlight and sound machine $30 (Not necessary but recommended) - amzn.to/32Opo2p

Not even close to a real 1080p, I have a $39 wyse pam can v3 and the resolution is waaaaaay better than Nanit, I only pay the premium of Nanit for the breathing monitoring, which has been working fine, also after 5 days, my insights completely stopped working, no events or sleeping summary anymore.

You should really spend a moment here to update and say it's not compatible with Google Home. I wouldn't have purchased this had I of know and the 14 pages of comments on Nanits own community site suggest it's a pretty big issue. The responses from Nanit are pretty poor too so I would be careful advocating for them.

I got you, thanks for that insight. It's performed well for me for three years so I'd still advocate for them even though we're migrating to Miku for baby #3. But I honestly never tested against the Google Home so that was my error. I'm sorry man.

I ended up returning my nanit after the 45 day trial. We didn't like it, quality would get terrible at times, even with pretty HS internet. It often just wouldn't work, camera would disconnect at night. Happy that there is that 45 day period to return however!

I bought the nanit because of this channel and have had it for some time. It is by far the worst piece of technology that I have ever owned. When you see the bad reviews. They are all true. Get any other camera for your babies crib.
