Nanuk 963 | Best Alternative to Pelican 1615 Air?

It looks like a great case, but. The 963's external dimensions are 32.5"x21"x12.3". If you add together all 3 of the above numbers it equals 65.8" in total dimensions. The Pelican 1615's external dimensions are 32.58"x18.4"x11.02". If you add together all 3 of the above numbers it equals 62" in total dimensions. The majority of airlines have restrictions on the size of checked luggage. Almost all of the airlines restrict checked baggage to a maxim size of 62" in total dimensions. So the possibility exists, because the the 963's total dimensions exceed 62", that most airlines could not allow you to check in the 963 because it exceeds size restrictions. At best case scenario you might be charged an additional fee for an oversized check in bag. One other thing I would like to mention. The 963 weighs 22.5 lbs. as compared to the 1615 which weights 14.8 lbs. Because most airlines restrict you to 50 lbs. or less per piece of checked in luggage you can carry an additional 7.7 lbs. of gear.

it's true... i have read comments that people are getting EXTRA charge because it is too big with the Nanuk. That is why I didnt buy it

i hate divider and foam best option is to put Peak Design Travel Camera Cubes medium or large/ end game ! the cost a 1/3 less and much more protected and you are not limited in options on how to set it up

I would prefer the Nanuk 963 over the Pelican AIr 1615 but those extra 7 pounds are a dealbreaker for me unfortunately.

unfortunately it is over 158cm (all sides added) which in europe is too big for checked luggage, otherwise it would be really cool minus the weight which is 10,2kg vs. 6,4kg with the peli
