I honestly think Naofumi might have been willing to wait to chew the idiots out until after the fight. Personally, I think it was kind of dumb of them to let the Pope charge up, but it makes sense that the heroes and how they were acting was just the last straw for Naofumi and it's pretty believable that he would blow a gasket. I am with Chibi in that it's better to have the Pope waiting and charging than just twiddling his thumbs for no reason. The mechanics of the fight do lend a lot of credibility as to him not acting for a moment while the Heroes talked.

In ep 15 Raphtalia spared her former slave owner claiming that killing him would only make her just as bad as him, she genuinely thought she was bad person when she thought she had killed him. In ep 16 when Fitoria asked Naoufmi if he had tried harder to clear his name, Naoufmi thinks to himself that he really didn't try but ran away implying that he thinks his situation is partially his fault also.

I'm kinda with you there. He's still dragged his feet in making amends with the villagers, but you could pretty easily make the argument that he just hasn't had the time between the Wave, the "kidnapping", and investigating the Cult. Ren is by no means above reproach, but he's also the only hero who's shown any potential for change.

@@micah459 To be fair to Naofumi, all 3 of them do take their good sweet time in actually taking the world seriously (at least in the LN/WN chapters I've seen). Also, keep in mind that a big part of Naofumi and his character is that he has trust issues from what Myne did to him, so it makes sense that it'd take a lot for him to trust any of them after seeing the damage they've each caused. I do want to see if the anime tackles Ren and his issues from a certain angle given that his flaws stem more from insecurities and a lack of social skills while Spear and Bow are just caught up in their own egos and fantasies.

Something we may see in say season two, since the other hero's point out there's a way to copy new weapons of the same type as yours to unlock it (though likely a weaker version then if you had absorbed its components) if the popes weapon was salvaged it may serve as a tool to unlock further skills for each hero as they copy it with their own weapons. Or the fragments of that weapon evenly devided may create a loophole in the weapons mechanics allowing say sword to now use a bucket like the plant shield too, simularly Spear may now be able to vie said loophole now dual yeald his spears.

@unggod That doesn't make any sense. I know a russian guy who compares the Light Novels with the Anime and he never said that the Cathedral wasn't in the source, in fact he said that it looks better then the original described, or something like that.

The difference is that to the end the other heroes still think its all a game. Mostly because they have been out there living easy and getting glory; they still see the other persons as mostly npcs because they haven't taken the time to connect with them. Naofumi held Raphtalia in her night terrors, he helped her grow and has seen her improve; thats why he knows its not a game.

I really hated this episode from a light novel reader prospective the roast is anime original and was completely not needed considering the situation. Some of the events did happen like the bow and sword joining in in both the light novel and manga naofumi worked with others but instead of roasting while the pope it getting stronger by the second killing all urgency I feel. I would of rather them take the week off to make the fight as great as possible than this. I’m probably noticing flaws more because i love the light novel for this a lot and wish this adaptation was better than what we got

i kind of notices this episode recaps the 3 heroes actions a bit but it didn't really click till chibi pointed it out ^_^ but still in my mind this is maybe my top 3 best recap episode i have ever seen in terms of actual character progression in the mean time with that perfect roust Naufumi gave those 3 noobs to basically start thinking maturely as they act as heroes a very good ep and im hyped for the next one

Like the episode didn't see it as a recap, nice find Edit: noticed how he says "it'll take time to charge the next attack" then went to the naiofumi firing shots. I too liked how they didn't use to time stop trope. Then thought they're screwed (hypothesis) I think the cathedral supplies magic to the item also locks them in so the Royal army can't get in
