@@bloody4558 good tanks carry a lot of big raids/dungeons especially if there are complex drag mechanics involved. God forbid you have another DPS as good as you, aggro switching forever. I have had to put up with bad tanks in the past and tanking as dps isn't always viable as outside of of the tank the biggest aggro puller is a healer (large health spells) and they end up having to cast bigger heals if the dps takes tanking duty.

@@nathanthom8176 Yeah... randomly pulling aggro as a ranged dps is very jarring especially when it's current wow (threat should not be an issue at this point) and I was playing a class without a taunt (ele shaman)... But dealing the most damage as a tank can be done depending on the hero/champion. I have played wraith king and carried the team through objectives as my skeleton army is too strong

I look at it like this: It's basically a king of the hill but with parallel worlds. The team we follow is the Naofumi team. The other team is L'Arc team. If team Naofumi wins, it's gg for L'Arc's world. If team L'Arc wins, this world is gg. So depending on the perspective you follow the characters from, they are the "heroes" from their side.

If I remember correctly from the light novel, the reason the other heroes are still so weak is that they are only using their one method of powering up: rarity, refinement, weapon experience. Meanwhile, Naofumi is now using all 3. Also, Raphtalia and Filo are able to keep up because Filo's a queen filolial and the hair thing Fitoria gave Filo doubled their stats upon classing up.

Actually, I think there is a better way to explain what Chibi was trying to say at the beginning: 1) There is games where you can class up at certain levels, like at level 15, but you could continue to level up in your current class a few levels without affecting the level cap of your future class; however if you class up at the earliest chance you won't get all the benefits of all the "extra levels" you could have attained otherwise if you were patient ( this happens in Fire Emblem) 2) You use an exploit to quickly level up , like using Faendal as a trainer/companion in Skyrim (recommended if you are an archer, only if so) , increasing abilities that won't help you but will increase your level quickly not noticing that that will increase the power level of the enemies as the game scales with you; as the game is designed to scale naturally with you. 3) You rush thru the main storyline, ignoring the sidequest and tutorials for crafting, guilds, side activities; etc, and you reach a roadblock boss that kick your ass for treating the game like casual linear gaming instead of rpg. 4)You go to a world boss or a simple raif in an MMO acting like if it was a single player game. 5)You insulted the DM´s mom

In Final Fantasy 11 it was "Power leveling" You have your level 60 friend play healer to you as you run around killing things, so, when you party, you let the 60 healer tank instead of the tank. no one learns anything (like working together) that way (to clarify, you and 5 others your level are in the party, the healer is outside it so they don't nerf exp)

What I hate about the heroes is that they just spam moves that do damage. Meteor shot, meteor thrust, meteor slash. They just use moves that sound cool and that might do great damage on other monsters. I agree with what Chibi says but they also don't think about class advantages, if this world has any, and elemental advantages. They could use electrical attacks on the boss or use status condition instead of worrying about attacking. Then after they do nothing except being a waste of space and air, they think they have the right to claim the drop rewards on the boss. Filo and L'arc who were using wind attribute attacks were doing great damage to the boss. The three heroes who have weapons that probably can learn any type of element could've done more than be punching bags and disappointments.

This is pretty accurate. I think the other heroes have just been getting by through spamming their weapon skills and guzzling SP-restoring potions but haven't been bothered to learn how to actually fight. It's like if you went through a Final Fantasy game and used "Ultima" to win every random encounter while constantly drinking ethers but then once you get to a boss that doesn't go down after one or two castings of "Ultima" you're pretty much screwed. The main things to remember about the 3 heroes is that they think they know everything about this world from their prior game knowledge, they think that they're in a game or at least are in a world that might as well be a game with them as the main character, they are far more preoccupied with being the hero (and acknowledged as such) of their own story than about actually helping anyone, and their incredibly lazy in that they don't want to actually work to get stronger (because this is a game) and think that strength and victory should just come to them because they are the "chosen ones / heroes".

A few tidbits: Ren is hanging onto the mast of his ship for dear life because he doesn't know how to swim. The way the mechanics of this world work, the primary decider of how much damage your attacks deal is your stats while any given weapon simy augments it via a bonus (the legendary weapons give MASSIVE bonuses via many different ways, so they're kinda the exception). So, for instance, if Naofumi was somehow able to use a ballista he would hardly be able to scratch a low-level mob because his attack stat is so freakishly low. Apply this to Naofumi's party: Raphtalia with a "nirmal" attack with the harpoon cannon and Filo with her "standard" kicks (not using haikuiku/high quick) are able to actually damage a creature that the 3 other heroes were not even able to scratch with their strongest attack skills. Really helps put the difference in strength between Naofumi's crew and the 3 heroes into perspective. While a decent portion of why the 3 heroes are so weak is because they haven't properly learned how to utilize their class in this world (also just because they were gamers in their previous worlds doesn't mean they were GOOD at it), the other major reason is that they haven't properly powered up their weapons. First, they likely haven't been feeding their weapons pretty much EVERYTHING they've come across and unlocking the passive little bonuses that each offers (like Naofumi). Second, and most important, each one is only utilizing a single "main" weapon advancement method where-as Naofumi has been using all 3. Also it looks like the 3 heroes have mostly been leaning on spamming their weapon skills and chugging SP-replenishing potions to get by instead of developing any actual skill in fighting. While Glass and L'Arc are indeed heroes with legendary weapons (and able to use weapon skills like the 4 heroes of this world do), Theresse is not but is instead is a heroic companion to heroes of her world (like Raphtalia). L'Arc's scythe and Glass's fans are able to auto-translate for them like Naofumi's shield does, though Theresse had to cast a spell using the gem in Larc's scythe in order to talk with and understand the people in Melromarc. Though while Theresse isn't a weapon-holding hero herself, she IS a really powerful mage. The shield that bit L'Arc's arm and made it go kinda numb but didn't actually hurt him is the Souleater Shield, which Naofumi got from the boss of the previous wave. It's effect is to drain the target of their Skill Points (SP), which is what heroes use to power their weapon skills. This will be important to remember for next episode (and probably not in the way that anime-only's think).

Don't talk about what you don't know, the three heroes were actually good gamers. Ren especially, he was probably better than Naofumi even. Ren is a solo player, having serious problems in socializing, he instead used to learn how to play the game by himself, usually soloed endgame content and so on. The problem here is that their knowledge is hoding them back, they are biased by their previous experiences, and the fact that the world has bullshit game mechanics on everything doesn't help. The only Reason why Naofumi isn't on the same boat as them is because Naofumi doesn't have any previous knowledge that would let him be biased in this world. In this aspect he actually had a huge advantage over the other three, because it allows him to test things and discover from 0, while the other three rely on what they already know instead, which prevents them from getting creative and test new things. Rising of the Shield Hero is not perfect, there are quite a few conflicting elements in the story, this being one of them. The author downplays the three heroes a lot, even though he had already estabilished the other three as being somewhat competent, their performance in these arcs is inconsistent with what we know about them, and therefore ends up in this fake situation here. I'll say more, next arc(which will only come in the next season), the heroes will commit a mistake that makes no sense for even Motoyasu to commit only to serve as a plot device to begin the main arc. It's one point in which I had to criticize the story. That said this mistake is only present in the Manga version(and LN, probably), this event didn't exist in the WN, in which the ending of cal Mira arc tied directly in the next big arc, with nothing in between. Curiously enough, it's one of the few things in which the WN did better than both Manga and LN.

Because it was hinted in the LN and manga that the heroes have to share all their empowering methods to truly have the power worthy of a hero (And that Why Fitoria said they must never fight between them and Always try to work TOGETHER.) Moreover they haven't learn their hero-exclusive spell (the one Naofumi learnt on the Totem on Cal Mira) because they couldn't read. (And hero-exclusive spells are pretty much broken ex : - weakest support spells = give a little boost to one stat of the designated target. - weakest Naofumi exclusive spell = double all the stat of the target. I don't know if the duration of the spell is the same or stronger, but i know that the mana cost is about the same.) In this arc and the next only Naofumi did that while the others only use their systems. So what is it strange that the 3 are weak when they literally have 1/3 ( if like Naofumi they unlocked ALL the bonus of the weapons they have unlocked) to 1/4 (if they didn't. And I think that is the case) worth of stats and weapon strength of a hero ? (literally as strong as Naofumi fully-Cursed... Nope even weaker, because Naofumi shields' strength don't weaken when he is cursed.) And even For Filo and Raptalia, that can be explained. All the hero and their parties are about level 70s because from level 70 to onward the exp to level up have grown exponentially. (Naofumi quickly said it in his head in episode 23 in the beach, to explain why they were there instead of grinding) - So you take the best of a race with Filo (filolial Queen) and Raphatalia (I would spoil if I explain that), - literally dope them since the beginning (grow adjustments and corrections = broken class upgrades) and let them grow until high level. Is it really absurd if they have become stronger that 3 1/3 to 1/4 worth of cardinal heroes of the same level with all of those?

Just remind me how many minutes Naofumi has to take to kill a single orange balloon all by himself because his bulid have only 1 point in attack without his curses shield? I'll awnser for for you - level 1 : 5 min of punching (LN, volume chap 5) (attack = 1) - level 25 :at least more than 1 min punching ( LN, volume 1, chap 19) (attack = 2) Raptalia level 1 = just one single good stab. And there is more : Naofumi level 70 empowered by the method of all other heroes punching Motoyasu about the same level with all his might without the curse shield? Awnser : "Motoyasu screamed at me. I didn’t see any other way to make them understand, so I stood up, walked over to him, and punched him in the face. Motoyasu looked like he couldn’t believe what just happened. He was holding his cheek. It hadn’t hurt him at all, I could tell. That was exactly what I was trying to tell them. " (LN volume 6 chap 1) Because he has the almost the same among of attack that the beginning because it never increases with is level. It is so important that if try to throw you something with all is strength, even a grenade, you will have no damage because of is attack points are far too low. You said fighting is not all about stat and I agree with. But there is a limit at how much the fighting skills can compensate for the lack of strength. the best martial-artist ant won't beat up a elephant with its punches... And I didn't want to spoil but... In the volume 11 there new enemy from other world, Naofumi and a party of people with Filo and Raphtalia within it struggle with their very life because the m got the same curse that Naofumi to beat them enough to make them run away (chap 16), while Motoyasu, with thing i had already said in the other comment I gave you literally killed each of them with one stab (chap 18). So yeah, in this story, even if stats are note the only thing that matter, they are among the things that matter the most.

In the manga, Ren says his skills spend to much SP, so they can't spam them all the time, but, HELL, do they only have one skill? It's always the same shit "meteor something" skill. Obviously you won't be able to spam them, since they are your strongest. That's why you apply debuffs and combos of lesser strong skills before you use the strongest

The waves are a phenomenon where two worlds become connected and monsters from one world flood into another. L'arc's world is on the other side of the waves and is being flooded by monsters from Naofumi's world. L'arc's people believe that if Naofumi's world falls to the waves it'll spare their own world from destruction.

Glass is basically a soul reaper from bleach. Also to an extent the heroes from the Otherworld aren't truly evil but they have to commit evil deeds if they want to save their planet from an existential threat that is threatening multiple worlds besides there's. And the reason why they're doing all of this is because they have to choose between their world or other worlds.

Now it all make sense. The choice that Naofumi had to make. Filolial queen already hinted this to Naofumi. The world or humanity. Just like what L'Arc's objective. To destroy the world but not it's people. Kinda obvious what Naofumi would choose but this might be the bridge for the other heroes. A common goal, to save the people. We might see one day, Naofumi, L'Arc, Glass, and all the other heroes coming hand in hand stopping the wave altogether. Nevermind the 3 heroes. But if, if somehow they could unlock the rage mode if that's even possible then I wouldn't mind having them tag with Naofumi. Seeing them fall to depravity would be a delight to my heart.

6:50, you are correct. There are 2 types of holy weapons, there is 4 "main" ones (in our case its shield,bow, sword,spear) and 7 "vessel" (tho they'll be called seven star heroes at the start) weapons, which are just there floating about in the world, with sole aim to help out the holy 4. L' Arc and Glass are the vessel weapon wielders of their own world and there is a legend going around their world that if you destroy other worlds, your own one will get more time to exist. As for waves themselves, they are still a mystery. All is known that they link 2 world together, which is how L' Arc, Glass and Therese are able to travel between our and their own worlds (as well as potentially any other)

So from the way the story is looking after this episode(I haven't read the manga), it looks like the Incursions from the Marvel Comics where worlds come to together and one has to be destroyed. So either the waves come from multiple "other" worlds or all the waves come from this one "other" world. And I'm guessing these "other" heroes have to fight for their world or be destroyed.

Here’s the thing; the 3 stooges effectively went into that wave being x4 under the stat requirements. Stats mean more than just level, and every skill you unlock adds to your stats. Naofumi has been gathering material and levelling every skill at every chance. He even levels skills in his sleep by leaving specific shields on as he rests. The other 3 heroes got the best weapons available to them at the very beginning, and then just levelled their offensive skills, and never bothered with anything else. In addition, Naofumi is also now using all 3 upgrading tips that they revealed. If the 3 heroes actually did the same thing as Naofumi, they’d perform MUCH better than him offensively.

@@jamesthomas2410*Spoiler Alert* allright....both the worlds are on collision course...and when worlds get closer to each other, the entropy wants to set them back apart by exerting an opposing force against the worlds... This opposing force is called as Waves... But the worlds itself have to collide and cannot go back to their original positions... Thus, the heroes of Glass's world is trying to destroy the one Naofumi has been summoned to, to ensure the survival of their own.... Basically the victory condition is that the world with the lower amount of population will survive, the other one will get eliminated and population of the destroyed world will be teleported to the surviving world.... Then there is a period of stability, before another world collision with a new world will begin.... Now the *Waves* can be prevented if the population of the world doesn't grow beyond a certain limit...and the waves are a sort of defense mechanism to decrease the population, so that complete destruction does not occur... Bonus: whenever a hero is killed, the complete destruction of the world will immediately begin! Which is why Fitoria's plan to kill the four heroes is complete bs

@@jamesthomas2410 *Spoiler alert* my point of reference is the Web Novel that was originally created by the author so I'll tell accordingly... Just like Naofumi, the heroes get affected with one of the 7 deadly sins.... Eg: Naofumi has the *Wrath* shield based on his rage.... he'll get affected by one more curse later on... Similarly the other heroes get affected by curses.. the bow hero is affected by avarice and deceit, spear by lust and, I don't remember it exactly what the sword hero was affected with, but I think it was pride.... After they get affected by each curse they had battled Naofumi and lost to him and then join him as his subordinates with Sword, Bow and Spear joining in that order... Also, as you see in anime .... Wrath has backlash of Status reduction for a duration...the other curses also has backlashes like erasure of personality, losing willpower, etc. There is a an event called the *Awakening of the Spirit Turtle* Which is caused by the three heroes, Till that time, they believed that they were summoned to a game world and just focused on seeing the world as an MMO and the People as NPC's But the Spirit Turtle is like a planet destroying beast with infinite regeneration, almost unbreakable defence and an attack that could wipe out a country... You could cut of it's head, and it would grow back another almost immediately They lose pathetically, become afraid and run away after releasing the Spirit Turtle from it's seal.... There is huge loss of life and property and eventually Naofumi nearly sacrifices himself to kill it using Blutopher... As a result, the three heroes are declared fugitives and they begin to get affected by the curses..... After being beaten by Naofumi, they realise that the world is real and that they caused huge loss of life that can't be undone... Then they join Naofumi and become his underlings..

Kind of relatable. Never tried to skip ahead/p2p ever again after this incident. When I got the first destiny, it was with the taking king and the other minor expansions. After a few levels, I remember checking my storage or whatever (haven't played in years, didn't play that long either) there was this thing that boosted you up by like 20 levels or something. I guess its for those who wanted to make a new character and wanted to try out the new stuff or something... i have no idea but i used it on my first ever character the first time i played the game, after barely sinking in a couple of hours. Cut to a few weeks later, I am level fourty (max I think) and my friend who started 2 days later than me is level 26 and struggling to keep with me (also shoot n loot games where more of my thing, he played borderlands 2 but thats it), but knows the game and completed far more than me and when he finally maxed out like I did, he was far better at the game than I was, and I was struggling.

despite already reading this in the manga, the fact still hurt me so much. Naofumi who had few to trust, trusted one person who he could get along with and someone who actually appreciate his craft other than his own party. Yet he needed to fight them on basically alone cause the other heroes worth nothing in a fight that powerful for them caused by their own ignorance. They should have stayed on the ship and actually protecting the others from the monsters yet their greed will be the end of them. the moment L'arc asked Naofumi "this is fun, right?" just hurt the most since he also pointed that those two will get along well if no side were separating them. May Naofumi find bliss at the end of all these sufferings

This is like when I play D&D with my friends. I'm naofumi and I treat every combat as war. I dont minmax but I do optimize, and I use tactics, and resources aginst my foes to defeat them in the most efficient and effective way possible. My friends however are used to a more casual combat as sport style play. Admittedly the GM isnt running the game 100% as war, however he does not go easy on the guys, and they were surprised when my character kept pulling theirs out of the fire. I was always prepared even when surprised I had some sort of plan. When they floundered. Edit: my friends are much better at it now.

I knew from last chapter that Larc and Therese were NOT "with" Naofumi but, I wasn't sure who had their allegiance... It was obvious from the sinister glances from Larc and Therese in the previous episode. It was nice to see that Larc/Therese DID actually care about not wanting to hurt Naofumi though. I am beyond excited to see where this story goes from here. I think that Naofumi may be closer to Glass' power at this point but, just not quite there yet. Of course the Shield , Melty, Raphtalia and Filo will find a way to overcome their adversaries! This series has been one surprise after another and I appreciate your reviews although I dont comment as often as I want to.

All of this makes me remember about Fitoria’s quote : « You can save the world or its people, you have to choose. » or something like that. Fitoria said after that that the previous heroes want that they choose the people instead of the world. It begins to make sense to us. L’arc comes from an another world and tries to save it. It won’t surprise me a lot if in the end Naofumi goes to their world and saves it or maybe its people teaming up with L’Arc. But we are certain of one thing : Only one of these two worlds will remain. It’s interesting to point out the fact that Glass and L’Arc are only interested to kill the heroes especially Naofumi. They want to save their world but they do not need to kill the other’s world people because they can maybe saves them.

Okay Chibi, the term you're looking for at the 16+ minute mark is "antagonist". Naofumi is the protagonist of his story while L'Arc and Glass are his antagonists.
