If you are descended from Africa you are black, people can belong to more than one ethnicity, they can be mixed, it doesn't make them any less "black" in terms of culture and acceptance, than a person who is African alone. Biologically, yes there is a percentage, but it would be dangerous to think of people in this way. The African diaspora is so prominent that the only way black people (of all degrees/cultures/skintones) can progress is if we define our identities for ourselves e.g. "I am black because I say I am".

Although the younger generation could not tell the difference between having a black friend or a white friend. Maybe if she was african american and wanted another african american to do well because they have a shared kind of culture and a shared ethnic heritage in the same way that an Italian-American could be proud of their italian ancestors. However, this is different. Naomi Campbell is British and this other girl is from Kenya. She is proud simply because she has the same skin colour as that person.
